Is there an update regarding the nime boxes? my fans also do this but not sure if the nime kit seems the right way of fixing it.

any further news on this? surely people are still having the same problem?what is anyone doing to fix their fans? starting to worry that i might get problems if this isn't sorted soon, can anyone help?

I ended up buying a new set and got them fitted by local vag guys

I did however keep th old ones in case a fix was found. should I keep there just in case or try and sell them to someone trying to do a resistor fix ?

As did I, didn't bother keeping the old ones though.

Mark, didn't know you were still around. ;)

nice so this could be warranty for me also !

when i dont have the AC on i dont hear my fans but also when stuck in traffic my coolant temp gauge goes to 110 celcius..

when i put the AC on it drops to the normal 90 but i also only have them going full speed

so they are wasted then ?

dont know if the lower speed makes any noise at all ?

unfortunately mine are not under warranty and i dont fancy spending hundreds on new fans, think i might try the resistor fix and hopefully that will work!

Anyone still using one of the nime boxes as a fix?

do you think it would still work effectively in a cupra r, don't know if there is a difference in the fan set up.

I've a Cupra TDI, not a Cupra R. I don't think there's difference in the fan setup but that's an educated guess rather than sound mechanical knowlege! :)

There are some posts earlier on in this thread about some issues with the Nime box experienced by others - there was some 'interference' and fault code appearances as I recall. You may want to review these posts and/or drop Tamer Emin a line to answer this query best.

The fan setup is the same in all mk1 Leons as far as I am aware however, myself and at least one other (Willie I think) had interference issues which caused my ABS not to work with the Nime box on the car.

yeah i read that some people had experienced problems, which has put me off getting one, suppose i could start with the resistor fix then see what happens.

anyone still using the resistor fix? sorry for all the question, i'm getting very paranoid about my fans!

Very true, summer is coming and i want to be able to use air con, without risking blowing something up!

I've had my resistor kit on for about a month now and no problems (touch wood)!

For the extortionate cost of the fans...it's certainly worth trying out first. And as said above...with hopefully the summer approaching you don't wanna be overheating whilst sat in a traffic jam!

Erm not sure exactly what it was...my mate did it...but I'll find out tomorrow and get back to you if that's alright? From memory it was about £88.
