I split off the 12v supply from my amp using a distribution block and then sent the supply to a mercury switch which I fitted in between the skins in the boot lid. Then sent the output to a neon which of course is earthed. When the boot lid goes up the mercury sensor sends 12v to the neons and hey presto, light with no switches, drilling etc. Mercury sensors are cheap too. Hope that helps

Yeah I'm liking that idea, where can you get these switches?

you only need to remove the trim from the left hand side of the boot to find a switch wire. There its a wire in there that whem the boot lid is closed the wire goes to groud. I ran a permenant live wire from the interior light (closest to standard). I then bought from vagparts a lamp and the trim peice that the interior light snaps into which supports the parcel shelf.

Hello...Ibiza 03 has boot light, but does not work....lamp assembly/bulb holder all ok (tested with another 12v source).voltage across connector 9.78 rises to 10ishwith engine running, but when connected to lampholder bulb will not light up...any clever techies out there with some 'bright' ideas please???

I would say it is going to be an earthing issue - check the wire that runs from the boot light to earth

Hmmmm I might have a look into this, have my old lights from my boot build in my old corsa...you can do a little modification to PC Case lighting...I'll try and post a pic to show u what I mean...looks better than a standard light and is good for installs etc. My sub enclosure also has built in LEDs which I wired into the courtesy circuit of my old car, so just need the wiring.

Seat are a joke. Even my old polo had a boot light. I have fitted one but havent been assed to wire it up :D Might do it tom. Il throw up some pics asap.

Yeh that's what I have done two LED push button ones stuck on my sub, keep forgetting to turn them off though so one has gone flat! Looked into wiring it up but sounded like a right hassle for a crappy little yellow standard boot light IMO.

i have a LED push button for my glove box, no light in glove box[:@]

Heres what I was talking about, I hid the power cable around the boot seal and had one either side...much better than a standard light:

Thanks Deano, with a wire direct to earth lamp shine brightly, but where is the switch?if i earth it in this way the light will stay on indefinitely??(unless the switch is somehow incorporated in theboot lock??)
