LCR - just had new discs and pads

OUCH... just wanted to share my pain... Brembo aint cheap!!!!

I shopped around and saved a lot and now have better brakes with the ebc stock discs and ferodo ds2500 pads

Right guys... just spent a fortune on replacing all the discs (Brembo) and pads (not sure of make but not brembo garage have said)

They work great :D however the rears squeel like a piggy for the first 200 yards in the morning when its cold and sometime moan like Chewy out of star wars when i reverse out the drive and sometime ever so slightly when i pull off.

The chewy moaning noise is only for like 5-10 yards (doesnt always happen) and the squeel goes away completely after the 200 yards and wont appear until the next morning.

Been to SEAT about the moaning and they have given me the modified part number for the brakes to balance them out so it gets rid of this...

As for the squeel its annoying but was wondering is this effected by the rears being un-balanced??? woudl doing this modification sort it... OR would it be something to do with the different make of pads and brembo discs? Should i push the garage to change the pads for brembos as they have already replaced the set of pads i have with new ones and it does the same thing.

One thing i noticed is the noise disappears after all the orange rusty coating disappears on the discs...

Opinions please... as its annoying after spending so much money

Cheers

Also - squeel appears when brakes are applied and they have loads of copper grease on them as i just spent the weekend cleaning the wheels from the orange glow they inherited. The moaning noise is without any brakes being applied so just normal driving.

The moaning of the rear brakes is due to these not retracting before you try and reversing.
The best you can do to solve this is to strip these down, clean them up and re grease them

Thanks Willie... however in the east its been the first warm day since Xmas. It got up to 7 degrees on the way home and not once did i hear a little peep out of them.

ok today is yet again a mild day and no noise at all... it must be only in very cold conditions sub zero temps?

Anyone else suffer this?

Hi

I get this when its been raining or ive washed the car, it only happens in reverse tho. Quite annoying. Just brought the conversion kit, will be fitting them over the weekend so i will let you know mate. :)

Ok I have this quite a lot. I have a mate who has recently looked at my car- he's a vag mech. He said that my rear axle is slightly bent and this is the cause. He has stripped the caliper and said it's fine. Worth a thought.

ah ok. dont think its the axle but so far i havent had any noise from the brakes or moaning when reversing so im putting it down to the brakes bedding in (as they are new) or when its extremely cold. Going to keep an eye on it... but so far this week not a peep!

Why would a bent axle cause this?
Buckled hub or buckled discs might
