How'd you work out they're nearly the same price? Panel filter is £43, induction kit is £150 for the R's!

And I'm thinking of getting them done here:

http://www.lepsons.com/

And powder coated of course. Had the Ibiza's painted and they didnt last as long as I hoped...

Well I paid £50 for a jetex open cone for 3" maf  It doesn't have to be an enclosed setup you know :)

I'd prefer powdercoating too tbh, although I've heard it doesn't stay shiny long after a clean. I'd much rather have a hardwearing finish that i need to clean than a soft paint finish that will chip off easily.

The induction kits on the R32's go down the engine bay to the bottom grills though to get cool air. Not sat up in the engine bay like yours, dragging in all the hot air!

Have a look:

Meh, my intercooler does a fabulous job :p I suppose as you don't have a turbo (yet ;)) the air won't get heated up at all so best to take it from as cold a place as possible.

The panel filter won't sound anywhere near as good as a cold air intake/open cone.

I'd personally get a large open cone filter and then get a custom cold air intake made...or even make one yourself with silicone bends and alu pipe :)

I might just save up and bite the bullet then and get a Carbonio.....looks nice in carbon fibre too! :)

what about if you did something like this:
http://www.wak-tt.com/mods/ramair/cheapinduction.htm

its a common mod on the TT's and worked well on my V6. Then put in an panel filter, I think I used a BCA/BCD?? filter. Got good sound from it.

Drilled airbox? No thanks.....dunno why but it seems a bit cheap and chavvy, plus then if it want to put the standard air box back in, it's got mouse holes all over it!

Drilled airbox FTW.... maybe pickup a secondhand airbox and mod that?

I really dont fancy a drilled airbox! I go to alot of shows and show my car, dont wanna lift the bonnet and see a mouse infested air box! I'd much rather lift it up and find a nice induction kit....

a friend of mine has a BMC induction kit on his 4motion and sounds and looks awesome

From what I've read, BMC's are only good on cars for up to 200ish bhp. Anything above that and they're too restrictive and dont provide enough air flow. SURE I read that somewhere....
