If you get it from AmD they make make it fit perfect ;)

I'v not booked the next RR day yet but it will probabley end of August-September.
Did you have the platinum LCR at the last RR day

Ah I see! Might make this then! Finish work at 5.. Love a bit of Maccy D's too  Be very cool if I could have a ride in your LCR aswell mate! ;)

The Milltek might be good enough for me on sound yet. Can't really judge until your in a car with the system fitted and it's given some moderate beans!

If it doesn't do it for me I'll go Blueflame. I loved my full Piper system, but they are mega money for the full jobbie without fitting!

Your Milltek looks tidy.

Cool, look forward to the next AMD meet. Was really surprised with the turn out in the arctic conditions!

Yeah I brought the very standard platinum LCR, she was parked about 4 rows back and next to my mate Martin's black LCR(scn = phatchoonz1). He run his on the dyno, mine didn't as I was having a prob with the sump and didn't want to do any damage :( she's had a new sump now though and 2 oil changes since Feb with new quantum so she's starting to run sweet. Plus it's only on v-power so when she's mapped, she'll run as well as she can!

Only had her since February, but it's my 2nd LCR and I've learnt lessons from the last one and giving this one the right mods and the best treatment now. Loving owning one again tbh!

There ment to be really good filters mate will get some vids up tommorrow have found some good ones of my car filmed out side etc

nice one mate. yea thinking powertec open cone now pretty certain I'll go that route with a heat shield and maybe cold air feed..

cheers for link buddy. sounds good does that. wonder if the 3" piperwerx downpipe makes the difference though?

does it fit well with the Milltek cat-back, and is the cat-back non resonated?

3" downpipe does make the sound different to just system on its own, only sounds better though.

what size pipe work is that? doesnt look any bigger than stock? :headhurt:

I'm still waiting to get my vids from my mate they sound loud but he's having trouble getting them to me hopefully tommorrow he will

Blueflame isn't much louder than Milltek, both are quite descreet, even in non-resonated form due to the contruction of the rear boxes, or rather how 'baffled' they are. If you want to go loud, you're better off choosing a custom system.

As far as I know Milltek & BF both use 2.75" pipework, most other manufacturers uses 2.5" such as Pipe, Jetex etc.

If you went custom, you could probably got from 3" from the turbo right to the rear box.

I want a similar sound to the Arctic VXRs with my LCR :)

I think i have the miltek cat back, unsure though as it was on when i bought it!

If this was the case, could i just by the sports cat and bolt it straight on? Can you get a complete De-cat pipe and does it throw any lights up if so?

Gravesie, I agree, the Astra VXR range & also the Corsa VXR range sound lovely with a TB exhaust, I believe that they use REMUS, well on the Nurburg Edition they did anyway. By addind a de-cat or sports-cat to the LCR and using a Milltek cat-back, you still won't achieve the same sound, which is quite gutting. You want an exhaust system that is as free flowing as possible, that includes a rear box with as little sound deadening in as possible.

My advice to you would be to buy 3" downpipe and sports-cat/decat setup (depending on whether you want to fiddle about at MOT time) and see if you are happy with the result. This mod is necessary for Stage 2 anyway so it won't be a waste of money and you'll instantly feel the difference even though you're not mapped for it :). If this setup doesn't do it for you, have a word with an exhaust fabricator and see if they can make you up a less baffled rear box or alternately, just a tailpipe welded onto the end of the pipe and no rear box. This is assuming that you don't have a mid-silencer but if you do, you'll need to get that removed. The other option you could try is going for 3" pipework all the way.

Sooo much money to spend lol :( will have to have a look at work!

Can i buy the downpipe and decat and bolt it straight on then? Thanks Jamjay :)

No worries. If you get a PipeWerx or BlueFlame 3" downpipe and sports-cat/decat then it'll bolt straight onto youe OE cat-back or any aftermarket one designed for the LCR. Check my build-up, I have a PipeWerx version mated to the OE cat-back, for now. It's sounds a little better and the cars pulls much better. However, I don't get any pops or bangs due to the contruction of the OE cat-back which is supposed to be quiet.

Cheers for the replies, Jamjay and Warren, very useful info and pics indeed :)

Think I know I now want 3" downpipe with the sports cat, maybe Blueflame the whole system just for ease of getting it all fitted at once.

PipeWerx seem a good option and I'll keep those in mind. They seem to be getting a good rep on here :)

I wouldn't mind doing just the PipeWerx 3" downpipe/cat sometime soon, as a full system is gona hit my funds hard!

Only problem is, I won't be keeping the OEM cat-back for that long as I've got some cracking/rusting on part of the rear box.

I'll get a pic when I can, but I think it's had it's day :(

p.s enjoyed your reader's ride thread jamjay, good read and very useful! your car came up really well after that respray!

If you can make your cat-back last a bit longer, i'd recommened doing the DP and Cat first as adding a cat-back is going to give you no benefit over stock, maybe not even much more noise.

Thanks :). I try to be as informative as possible but it's been quiet recently due to a shortage of uprated bushes so i've had to postpone the lowering.
