hi owen i have a fr same shape as yours, i want to upgrade the breaks but not sure what to i have looked at the brembo GT's and got them to £1500 for the front so far will no doubt find somewhere with them cheaper eventually. any ideas what i could do?

well it is ok upgrading the fronts to the best but the rears will suffer as a cause of this. I would recommend S3/R32 rears to evn things out once you increase front breaking power, i did this to mine and it made the car alot more planted under breaking.

Fronts ~ i can only recommend what i have on my car, they aer very good but expensive and are obviously larger which gives alot more weight to each corner.

If you are not doing track racing then i would recommend just upgrading pads and discs for now

Owen, what is your pedal travel like with the larger calipers?

Quite fancy a set as I had a set of brembo's on my golf and they were ace.

this is only the Front setup i have from the audi RS4/RS6, my rears are off of an S3

adamm, you will always see a set of RS4 calipers on ebay for around £400-600, if you go for these just ensure they come with OEM mounts and also decent pads to save you buying in the future, as for discs they are less availible 2nd hand im affraid, you may want to go to the dealer and get a price 1st, as they are not cheap.

Brake pedal travel is OEM but doesnt need to be pressed hard to give OEM effect. if you stand on them you will need to hold on

i had mine upgraded with a few other things when it was down at statllers in sheffield, they cost me 280 fitted, again they pop up on ebay and this or the MK5 golf gti forum for aroud the 200-250 price
