My car is borked - New CAT Back system needed

Driving down to Bath today and got to Reading before my temp gauge decided to rocket in to the red. The exhaust or something underneath my seat is making a major knocking sound. It also is blowing harder than a bangkok wh*re !!

Funnily enough though when I limped back to Croydon doing 50mph the temps were fine and the mpg was averaging 41mpg.

So I think it's not as bad as it sounds but have to take it down the garage to get checked/welded/new exhaust.

dad had a custom made system put on his kit car for around £280 at RSR at Factory Lane, Croydon although they have branches at South Croydon,Fiveways etc..

Cheers, I presume when you go on performance websites the price quoted is just the parts, not labour ?

Mat, my backbox which Stu put on the other week is Janspeed albeit with custom made by him tailpipes as the originals were fooked. I had a 20vt one before but it died,loved that nice burble but the one i have now is just as nice, not chavvy raspy or anything....

if you do get any response from a wanted ad, make sure you get pics of the weld joins....i got a 20vt to replace mine and it was in a worse state than the one i was taking off! that was only fubard along the seam of the box, the one i bought was fooked on all the joins!

Yeah, I saw the underneath when I took it to Kwik Fit, it had already been welded a few times, which is why it was so corroded this time. Literally has just split, which is what the knocking is. The pipe after the cat is bouncing around now it isn't connected to the cat. The rest of the pipe is in pretty bad condition too.

i wouldn't even know if the manifold end is alright either.

dont listen to them!! they said i needed a new back box and center pipe just cos the clamp was loose.

No, I went under the car with them and it's nasty !

I will try and get a picture of the car, while I roll on the floor underneath ! I need a cigarette anyway...of course I won't smoke while I am under the car, or you might see me on the news later.

get a mk3 exhaust matt, its the best one, looks the part, sounds the part, and kinda OEM in a sense
