Are most of you using V-power or other non-95RON fuel?

I have a pretty strong feeling that my problem was due to this - don't think the ECU liked the higher octane stuff, I would try running it for a few tanks on good quality 95RON and then reset the ECU.

Worth a go??

nothing wrong with v-power. The car runs far better on the higher octane stuff. And what do you mean reset the ecu?

Your ecu adapts to the way you drive the car and the fuel it is run on etc. I BELIEVE that you can reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for a while and turning the key to ignition or through VAG COM.....better check that though!

Spurt - how do I go about that ?

Mines a Golf but VW ( I'm sure ) will play the " it's been remapped " card and therefore try and wriggle surely ? Even though the web is full if problems on this engine..

Have the dealer touched the car yet? and do they know about the map? If they find out they will chuck that straight back in your face. i know my dealer would. if i was you i would deff get it removed before anymore work is carried out. Vw is quite strict with warranty work and if that chip shows up on the diagnosis log vw will just say no and then its gonna be a fight with you and the dealer which im sure you wont win and they will tell you to go elsewhere.

Thats just what ive had experience with and remaps coming into my workshop, but its probs gonna be the same. a remap is a perfect way to put blame on the engine failure. its like pig rolling in **** for them.

yea so why run it on 95 ron? disconnecting the battery can wipe all driving data but its not gonna help fix an engine fault.

same thing happened to my cupra, was driving and engine light came on aswell as emissions warning, lack of power, sounded like a lawnmower!

took it to dealer and needed new injectors and coil packs.. :(

My car went back in last Tuesday and and we got a call on Christmas eve saying it now needs new spark plugs, they also said the head engineer is taking my car home over these holidays haha let's hope this time I don't have an extra 200 miles on my clock + a recaro booster seat, I've ran my car on tescos high octane and shells v power, it's also ran on normal fuel as that's what the garage fill it with as there's no high octane fuel station near the dealer

Collected mine last Thursday - another new set of plugs and coil packs fitted at the same time. Done 150 miles so far but am taking it gently, so haven't been above 4000rpm but the problem was always at 3-3500rpm

Hi all, sounds like your having loads of fun with all this. Thought I would make a couple of suggestions.

Remember seat read scn.
Remove revo from your car and do not let seat know it was there. Put it back on once the car is fixed
Document every conversation, item of work, phone call, etc include date, time, full name and full details of each discussion.
Agree mileage limits for any Road trip..... 200miles and not fixed is taking the p@ss.
Let them know any mileage over the agreed limit is chargeable at the government agreed 40p per mile.
Agree a date when all problems with the vehicle are to be rectified by.
Ask to raise the issues with your vehicle with the dealer principle and ask for a meeting with them and the service director to agree all of the above.
Read your warranty so you know what your talking about.
If someone feeds you crap, tell the dealer principle and service director and refuse to deal with that person again.
Write a letter to seat uk and copy your dealer princiPle, send it registered post and demand a response within 14 days,
Read the sale of goods act 1974 and quote it in all correspondence.

Good luck guys.

Steve.

sensible and accurate advice there steve,
if its anything to go by lads i have been through this hell for the last 2 years with seat and my cars still not fixed , its got to the point now that my car is eating spark plugs under 7,000 miles a set but with no fault codes they wont do siht , even though you can feel the car missfiring !
i would just wish they would hold their hands up and say they cant fix the cars instead of fobbing people off , i really feel for you guys having problems but im not suprissed one bit.
you would have thought christmas and the time of good will will have garages sorting stuff out ?
dont take **** from dealers , basicaaly when i needed a new cylinder head after 13 weeks they still couldnt fix it so i told them to sort it within a week or give it to seat to fix , hey presto they fixed it , well fixed 1 problem just got to sort the others out now.
good luck guys keep posting

Hey guys, I stupidly went away from the internet 4 a week! lol

thanks for the advice steve.
I really do hope Seat read this as they could learn a few things!

I must say though, now I have learnt to only speak 2 the head tech at my dealers I have been really happy with the service, and hopefully (touch wood) nothings been going wrong. It's nice to know when I say "could you check blah...?" they actually get back to me with updates and talk through the work.

Hope you other guys get yours fixed soon

I've already wrote a letter to seat uk and dealt with trading standards and the sale of goods act etc, but got a reply saying all they will do is try and fix my car.

why not reject your car?
i dont know how long you have had it or the full story , but reject your car to the dealer you bought it from , you haven given them enough time to repair the car , you may need to be forcefull but it will get you out of the situation , if the dealer tells you you cant reject the car because there is not another car available like for like , seat has a fleet they can dip into to sort you out.
dont give up mate , trust me i know its a long hard frustrating process but stick in there.

Got my car back today with new spark plugs and a software update and so far so good part from my tyre pressure light coming on

Good stuff. I've done 360 miles in the last week mine with no issues ( mainly driving like a granny with helium slippers )....
