I think it uses the G sensors in the phone combined with the sat nav to plot how fast your accelerating over a certain distance also knowing your cars weight helps.
The program has options for these

Got this installed on my old HTC Hero which is running Android 2.1. Works a treat (apart from boost). Bought the bluetooth adapter from fleabay. My LC must have been bought on the cheap from the factory because it doesn't have the fuel computer (i.e. MPG display) but the torque app and obd bluetooth adapter have made my day. Now to play about to see what it can do.

Good to hear,
Currently the Dev is a tad unresponsive on the forums but hes working on several projects at the same time. However, I have a friend whos a coder and another friend who understands the ins and outs of ECU's

Its possible over the coming months we'll have an In house ECU/Fault Clearer/Boost logger etc.
I've got another good friend whos a professional web designer so maybe it could be a little money earner.
I'll keep you all posted

sounds good. I just need to build something to mount my phone onto now. Thinking maybe a pod to sit just above the central air vent, turn the phone on it's side so it doesn't stick up too much. That might be a nice little project (an excuse to get out of the wife and kids way).

Has anyone got their phone mounted on the dash as mine's currently sitting down near the ashtray and you can't really see the small dials.

Let me know what you come up with!
I've got a holder that clips round the back of the airvent and balances on the facia by the cup holder,
Its not great and I really need something better!

Not a bad idea!
I've got a headrest mount for my Camera beware though the minor vibrations through the windscreen play havoc with my HTC Magic.
Yours however is newer so your video hopefully will be watchable!

Edit:
Just to let you know I've spend all afternoon talking to my friend regarding interpretations of ECU data and placing that in working databases.
I've met with another friend at the same time who'd be doing all of the PC/Android development and he said he'd LOVE to do it (I have an Apple developer in mind aswell)
I'm going to talk to another friend tonight regarding web design, Accessing of databases/displaying information etc.

I think the software he has at the moment is interesting but I think the Portal in use at the moment is lacking.
I also think his software is good but could do with Adjustments and improvement interface wise and there needs to be a support Channel or atleast some form of feedback.

We are not out to make profit more interest and was wondering once we've got the baseline code down if you guys and gals would be interested in helping us with bugs/suggestions

Obviously its up in the air at the moment but I feel we have all the right components and people and should we turn a profit we'll be using it towards further development and if we are lucky we'll create an ability to update settings within the ECU but thats quite far down the line at the moment.

Lets get the dials, PID's, Equations and Scripts down first and I'll keep you posted

Thats interesting. I don't think that fault code is different dependant on ECU, I'm sure its a standardised code. The car went into limp mode I take it?

I'm not sure how the ECU's write the logs yet its soemthing I'm very new to, I'll be learning as I go along!

I got a good phonecall today,
My insurance company declared my HTC Magic too expensive to repair so they've given me an Xperia X10
A 2 year old android for a relatively new one and my contracts up in feb! Hoping for a tablet for the Car!
