Update
November 2011
Towards the end of November saw the
garage, where it has stayed since. I decided to resort to my brother's Corsa as my daily (he's in Uni down South), which gave me plenty of time to carry out a much needed overhaul.
I decided to renew my ARB / droplinks at first, which had seen better days. On closer inspection, my OCDness led me to overhaul and restore the whole lot. As follows;
(
WARNING - Proper anal stuff!)
Front Calipers / Carriers overhaul. (Also G60 conversion);
See ya!;
Old vs New splash guards from Seat
Dealers;
Hub painted roughly with Hammerite;
All carriers, calipers were extensively rubbed down, wire wheels and various bits were used on a drill too, to further enhance all painted surfaces.
Pistons extracted from the calipers (to reveal some weird crud!);
Caliper rubber down;
Carriers sprayed in silver;
Off to the oven for baking;
Calipers sprayed and baked. Then left to cool down for 12 hours, as they were HOT! Finished article;
New seals, dustcaps and
Guide pin gaiters were ordered from BigRed;
Piston was carefully pressed back into place;
Rocker Cover & Intake Manifold
Rubbed down with wire brushes and cleaned;
Masked up;
And decided on Crackle Paint. Finished article (Crackling hell!);
Also decided to have a go at polishing my Rocker cover;
Whilst fiddling with the more mundane bits, these badboys were getting done!
Subframe, wishbones and slam panel overhaul
There was no front end to my car, the car had essentially lost it's face :shifty: ;
State of the engine;
Shiny!;
Shiny slam panel;
New genuine bonnet catch;
Couldn't
help but take a few pics! (On what seemed like a decent camera at the time! Apologies for the quality!);
Fresh Subframe, alongside the new ARB ordered;
I had decided to order powerflex bushes for the ARB too, for added rigidity! As follows;
Slam panel was then fitted to the car using new genuine bolts etc;
Fresh radiator fan cowling seen behind;
The quality of the work was good, I was pretty happy with the outcome!

It was done in as near match as possible. (9005 Matt/Satin black finish)
Further Subframe fitting
I then moved onto fitting the subframe. Using only my pair of measly muscles, alongside my mate the other side, we lifted and fitted it ourselves. A bit of grunting, pissed off muttering, and frustration, we managed to get it all done and torqued up eventually!
Subframe Components;
Wishbones;
New Lemforder pivot bushes;
Genuine Leon / Audi TT bushes, pressed and ready to fit!;
New, genuine ball joints ordered too (with the trusty old Haynes manual in the background!);
I have to admit, getting these in was a PAIN! Access was limited, and leverage was too! So frustrating at times!
Anyway, we got there in the end, and I can't thank my mate enough for his dedication and willingness, he's stuck by me throughout, (in these FREEZING conditions!) fairplay to him!

(Only he seems to understand my OCDness, to a degree!)
Finished article;
(As seen, powerflex bushes, and the new calipers fitted!);
(Oh, and any brown residue would be the waxoyl. I'd like to preserve the finish as long as I can!)
There are many more pictures, I just don't want to bore you guys too much! Also, it's hard to keep up with progress through pictures, always seem to forget to snap everything I do when I'm well into it!
That's it for now! Updates soon;
- Rear overhaul,
- Golf Mk4 rear brake setup etc.
- Interior changes!

- New ICE...
Work has been on a hold for a bit, partly due to uni work, but also as my mate has been in Hospital suffering from a collapsed lung, randomly! He's on the mend thankfully!
Thanks guys!
