Force. You have to push the tower down, then over to compress the spring then line it all up. I've done many like this, however it's hard to remember lol

It will go back in, just have to find the right angle and it will pop in. If its the whole arm then it shouldnt come out without removing the three 13mm headed bolts and the cap that's buy the fill bung.

YEY! It's back in!!!

Spent nearly 3 hours trying to get it to go in right. On the plus side my gear linkage is actually a lot smoother, really easy to access 6th where as before it was a little temperamental.

Really glad it's all fixed. Roll on AmD RR day.

Cheers mate. Was a **** of a job but at least it's done.

Just this weekend to go then it's rolling road time :)

Hopefully mine will be on, as the clutch felt shite earlier... bit worrying. Will see how it is over the next few days. It is getting replaced but after the 19th for sure. Bugger.

Be good to see the car again mate.

Hopefully clutch will hold out as long as possible. Have a look at the Southbend clutches when your looking for an upgrade. I highly rate mine, OEM pedal feel and capable of holding 450LB/FT.

That's good to hear James. 8-10 hrs at least sounded a bit daunting... I suppose it's not strange for those in the know but with the shift happening more smoothly now, would that suggest it wasn't quite right in its original position? Everything happens for a reason as they say...

Enjoy the rolling road! Please take a vid if you can, just so we (I) can hear it going through the rev range. Definitely one of the nicest cars on here, IMO :)

How much for the Southbend clutches?

I'm pretty sure on the Awesome GTI one rated to 450 lb/ft also. SMF. El runs this one and I've driven his car with it fitted, feels very OEM which I liked also like what you are saying about the pedal feel. The Awesome one is £650 give or take a few quid. :)

Awesome one is rated to 400lb/ft so good option for you tom, the southbend kits (i have the same as james) are not cheap, double the cost of the awesome kit
If your staying k04 then i doubt the need the extra torque handling ability

Sweet, that's all the info I needed :) Cheers mate!

Fresh MOT and 2 new boots put on yesterday. Went for a set of vreidestein ultrac sessanta in the end.

I spent most of the day with a friend who runs Saxon Motorsport yestersay who said he would get me some cheap 888's as he is sponsored by toyo so decided on a set of road tyres for the time being. Really considering getting myself a MK2 golf and joining his race team!

Without sounding harsh you maybe better spending the money on some proper ARDS training and getting some hours/experience under your belt before joining a race team
You could then put your training to good use on LCR with some sticky R888's on

Saxon offer full driver training and their race team mainly consists of mk2's so my idea was to buy a mk2 to work on and build, whilst driving / training in one of their race cars.
