Hi guys, I managed to get hold of a pair of LCR cast lower arms but looking at them i cant work out where the arb drop link bolts on?
Will i need different drop links to fit them with my arb or even a different arb?

As always any advice is really appreciated and any links would be great

Thanks

Here's a picture of mine

Ive been doing a bit of googling through the night and have seena few pics where the arb link goes up the shocker and bolts on somewehere under where the spring sits, I don't think my shocker has any where for it to bolt onto.

Any advice people????

LCR shocks are different to the rest of the Leon shocks. As you say, there is a place to bolt the ARB to. If you PM me, I'll be able to help you more...

If you're changing the lower arms you'll need to change a fair bit to suit.

ARB stabiliser link - it attaches in a different location.
ARB - it's a different shape/design.
Ball joint - the stud pattern is different..
LCR shocks - to attach the new ARB stabiliser link.

Hubs - I'm sure they're different but can't remember how.

Hope this helps, I know it seems a right pain in the arse. I should be fitting all of mine in the next couple of weeks. Good luck :)

As Barn said you need to switch to an LCR front set up - hubs, shocks, and you may as well change the rack too.

If you want info about where to get parts - PM me.....

I wasn't aware that everything else "needs" to be changed I thought it was just a case of its better to do it all to achieve the best results, I haven't ever heard of having to change the arb to fit lower arms or hubs??

well as you can quite clearly see there is nowhere to bolt your arb to on the lcr wishbones as they are different, if you want lcr wishbones you need the lcr arb as it is different to the lc

i have done the cupra-r front setup on my cupra, i have done some write up it in my RR and a few pictures. also got pictures of the differences on the normal vs cupra-r hub.

what you need is:
ARB cupra-r type, you can also get the ARB from vw golf mk4 R32, R32 is an uprate over the cupra-r. the R32 is what i got on my car now.
cupra-r drop links.
cupra-r hubs with nut type driveshafts, it has to be this "nut type driveshafts". i think most 210bhp LCR have this type hub.
lcr wishbones.
and you need to have the mounting hole for lcr droplinks on your shocks, i had coilovers, most coilovers have the mounting hole, my Eibach Pro-Street-S coilovers did, no problems for me, but you have to make sure you have this hole/mounting braket on the shocks.
also to fit the ARB you need to take the subframe down.
dont need new trackrod ends, you can buy LCR trackrod ends if you want to, but you dont need to do it, you can switch the ones you have on your car, left to right and right to left.

Thanks Allen plenty of info there, since this thread started I've sourced a setup from a mk1 TT, lower arms, hubs, ARB, steering rack and subframe (think the bushes in subframe are better but not 100% sure?) also brand new bearings and bushes looking immaculate.

From reading you link to your RR it sounds like I might have a thinner ARB from the TT and should possibly get one from an R32?

Here's the other thread anyway.

could you not weld a tab onto the arms and then drill and tap a new drop link hole ? didnt think you needed everything else ...i thought the arms both had the same geometry.

How are you with welding cast material?

The only cast wishbones that can be made to fit with the stock LC ARB and droplinks are ones from very early TTs, they have a blind area of extra material which can be drilled and tapped to replicate the pressed steel wishbone arrangement.

Nope LCR and LC have different balljoint setups.

LC balljoint slides into the end of the wishbone, then bolts/ flat nuts hold it in place.

On the LCR the balljoint has studs on it, they pass through the slots in the end of the wishbone and are held by nuts.

I suppose I might be able to but I think I'd prefer to go with a full conversion or none at all, for handling purposes where the drop link bolts to the suspension must be an advantage or why would they have changed it?

Also the handling of any standard model mk4 golf platform car with uprated suspension (coilovers etc) still wouldn't handle as well as a LCR, TT, S3 or R32 with the same uprated suspension and this must surely be down to the revised lower arms AMF ARB setup?
