PAKMAN- mines doing the same as yours mate, climate control stays on 90 while the dash temp goes up and down. Im just going to leave it til the weather warms up then try and sort it. With it being a diesel aswel they do take longer to warm up so its hard to tell whether having my heaters on is affecting it.

Question is, it cant damage/ change the affect on anything having a faulty temp gauge can it?

Cheers!!

good thread. my cockpit dial did a similar thing, started to drop to 0 during a journey then back up to the middle and got more frequent. then it died and the needle doesn't move anymore... want to replace or clean if will help, dont believe i have the skills (unless its all easy to get to?) but like above - if the needle doesnt work but car seems to run fine and has done for probably a year or more then does it really need fixing?

From what I've learnt recently its bit great if your car is over heating but in this weather I doubt you'd have too much danger of that.

Your fuel comsumption will be affected and as Lee said it is designed to use the data to manage everything according to the engine temp. One of my posts in here describes how I changed the cts the lazy way without changing the coolant. I only didn't change my coolant because it was new in a few weeks prior - hope that helps?

Mine is also doing the same. Takes ages to get to temperature and then when it does, if i stop for a few minutes it starts to drop then when driving goes back up again but will randomly drop below 1/4. Very weird. I have changed the CTS and its made me difference although it was an ebay special but made by a german company. I plan to check mine on the climate control screen too then have the termostat changed.
Did i read right earlier that when changing the CTS that the coolant should also be changed???
Also i did mine first thing in the morning when the engine was cold and when i took the old CTS off, i lost no coolant. Mine is a cupra 1.8t.

You don't have to change the coolant but with the TDI's where it is positioned it spills out coolant so I think if your coolant is soon due to be changed or you feel like it (with g12 that lasts forever) then it's a good time to do it. If I remember rightly the petrols cts is positioned up higher or top loading (I might be wrong but I think I saw some instructions for it on here) so you don't spill any. I had to use a funnel and a bottle to catch it as it was new coolant and I'm tight!

I find it amusing that we are all spitting these problems but some little old dots or ignorant drivers are rallying around oblivious to the problems with their cars until the smoke bellows and the key wont turn lol

I find reading problems on the forum....you then look for the problem on your car, wereas before you wouldnt of noticed it......cant do any harm in keeping your car running properly, but just burns a big hole in pocket and a lot of frustration!!!

Amen to that brother it can be dangerous but as you say worth it if you value your wheels!

Ok, started folowing this tread a couple of days ago smug in the knowledge that my car was running fine and all was well.
Went to work this morning and everything still working fine but on the way home disaster!

Considering my drive from home to work is about 15 miles along mostly dual carage with a few country roads thrown in for good measure the visible dash temp gauge never moved off 0 (actually 60 but you know what I mean).
Great stuff!
This will teach me for feeling smug lol

Happens to the best of us ole boy! Ha ha. Hope you sort it

Hi all, having exactly the same problem!

Bought cheapo eBay cts and nothing has changed. Climate control reads happily 90 but dial stuck on 60!

Surely if the climate control sits happily on 90 the thermostat is doing its job?

Is there anywhere else the dial could get its reading from? I wish there was a Haynes manual for this car!

Worth reading the thread from head to toe and you will learn like I did (the hard way) that its worth changing the cts first, then the thermostat 2nd. They are the foremost easiest solutions. I found that my climatronic also read 90 regardless but it took replacing both cts then thermostat then genuine cts to get it sorted

How do I get in touch with dave from sere to order the real deal cts? And what sort of price are they?

Just want to get the thing sorted as it's bugging me! And as a "newbie" your not allowed to message anyone in case you're a maniac.

I'm new to the world of seat and cupras but I'm bitten by the bug! Just wish the electrics we're better! Every problem seems to start with the electrics!
