Stage 1 Remap

Looking at getting this done in the new year. Obviously there are numerous threads on this subject so before anybody crucifies me for not searching - I have and am just using this space to clarify a few things ...

By the looks of things a remap will cost in the region of £300 and power gains will be about +30bhp and +70 torque.

My research has found the following companies some of which provide before and after rolling road sessions which is helpful.

Revo
Apr
Amd
Custom Code
Jabba sport

Have I missed any?

I've had a revo before (2003) on my Ibiza and it was completely nuts (in a good way) but from what I gather that's now a bit old skool now and things have moved on.

I have a cobra cat back and system and don't plan on anymore bolts on mods.

What company do people recommend?

I am well aware that each map is different which is why I mentioned I'd had a Revo map in the past. From the research iv done the power seems to come in one big lump and not as smooth as others.

I know bill knows his stuff that's for sure plus he's only an hours or so away. I assume remap is approx £300 still.

Retch as I understand it get big gains but I think are somewhere up north?

Revo offer a more progressive map now as well as the old one you had.
To be honest all the companies you've mentioned are well known and proven and with it being stage 1 I doubt there's much between them.

Stick stage 2 mods on the car then id be going to Jabba who have always mapped these cars well and reliably. They also have lots of experience so if there was problems they could narrow the fault down quickly but there the only mappers I've used so nothing to compare to.

Because they are the best mappers in the country. If you love your car only use the best.

Smoke testing is a nice touch Bill, almost becoming a requirement due to age of the pipes especially the vac side.
Only way to have total confidence.

Smoke testing is putting smoke through the air systems (boost and vac etc) to see if there are any leaks. The smoke makes them visible.

I used Angel tuning in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Although people don't rate them I ignored them all and I've had no problems whatsoever.

I used AMD to stage 1 my cupra and even though its the only car iv ever had mapped its a bloody good one
