Looking into getting myself a Mk2 Cupra, has anyone went from FR tdi to one and how'd you find it? Ie power, mpg ect.. Any info/advice much appreciated! :)

I went the other way from a tfsi to a tdi just got very expensive with the daily commute but cracking performance from the 2.0 tfsi awesome cars if it wasn't for fuel costs I would have kept mine.

I'm not happy to see you. it's just my note 2 in my pocket.

How many miles do you travel a day though? My work is 5miles there and same back so I dont travel loads.. Whats the tax like on it also?

I went from

MK2 Leon FR TDI PD170, Shark Stage2/Stage2+ tuned 216bhp/228bhp (Depending what map was turned on)

to

MK2 Leon Cupra R 2.0TFSI

At first the car felt fast but wasn't as fun to drive as a daily, totally missed the torque

Now

MK2 Leon Cupra R 2.0TFSI APR Stage2+

Total different league now has similar torque to the TDI but delivered in a different way, MPG is alot worse than the FR TDI (drive to work, 27mpg FR, 19mpg LCR) total power is amazing

Conlusion, I miss my FR, But the LCR is so much better

I think you'll be fine doing 5 miles I was doing nearly 20, 000 a year just for work. The only thing will be you'll have to do a few heavy foot runs to keep the condensation on the oil cap down due to the shorter journeys it can create the cream on the oil cap. I used to pay 240 a year for tax but may have gone up a little since then. Used to get around 28-32 mpg on a normal run and around 20-22 mpg with a spirited drive.

Not had a tdi FR but a good friend has one and the performance between that and my R is in a different world. Don't get me wrong, the FR is quick but the Cupra is a licence taker.

As for fuel costs, well I work a similar distance as you do and get 25mpg on the commute. If I'm skint I know I can get by on £20 for the week and just spend loads of time washing her. Tax is good, £250 for the year.

Yeah see I seen a couple of cupras with Revo stage one claiming 300bhp which I quite fancy, Im sure it wont be as economical but will be lots more fun!

Yeah im only doing around 6,000 miles a year.. I enjoy the heavy foot runs, go out with friends for cruises and what not so should be fine. Suppose tax isnt to bad, think im paying £90od for 6months.. MPG seems pretty good! Just want something abit more fun.. The FR's nice and all but doesnt sound as good as a petrol when you put the foot down, Id like the whole dump-vavle thing, and the 0-60 in 6.4 seconds as to 8.0 lol!

Yes my mapping is for 98Ron , i use Momentum 99, Occasionally put V-Power in aswell

I ran 97ron fuel once and it ran like a dog

APR advised that i can run 95ron on 98ron but just drive it sensibly

Ie dont run 95ron on a 98ron map and boot it everywhere

If you dont plan to buy premium fuel you can get a 95ron map

Ahhh I see, I dont boot it everywhere anyway. I drive sensibly most of the time :p
Anything I should be aware of when viewing them? Also Pre fl or facelift, much difference in the engines?

i think there is some mechanical differences between the pre-FL engine and Facelift but not 100% sure what they are

Get the neuspeed p-flo for a bit of vader in the glovebox action it sounds great. Better than a dump valve imo. I had the forge diverter valve which is silent obviously with the p-flo for the noise.

Normal driving I get 27mpg from my Cupra with a Neuspeed P-Flo fitted. Motorway averages 32-34mpg.

Found a cupra I like, 'Speed blue :D' but its 08 with 22k miles and dealers looking £11,000 for it
My cars apparently worth £9,400 "My cars 09 with 24k miles" Thinking hes being a little steep with the valuation for my car, am i right?
