184ps Leon FR delivery dates

I also wanted the 184 TDi but when I heard it would be November at the earliest before I would get one I decided to order a 1.8 TSi. I ordered mine at beginning of March and was told late May for delivery. I've recently been told that there have been delays and now it will be mid July. Mine is the manual rather than DSG.
I seem to be getting different information to jamiep as my dealer arranged for someone from Seat UK to ring me a couple of weeks ago to explain the delay. The man from Seat UK told me that there have been big delays on the 1.8 TSi but they are going to try to get me one of the first available and that will be mid July. He said they are not starting production of them until mid June and even then only in small numbers for those that have been a long time ordered! Perhaps the DSG model will be available a month earlier? I suspect not! I just hope jamiep has more accurate information than I have been given but I have my doubts as the man from Seat UK did seem genuine and was very apologetic for the delay.

Think I might just go with the 150. Looking at the brochure the 150 SC gets the multilink rear suspension (not available on the 5dr til 180bhp+)

I don't think there's anything else in the spec that only the 180+ engines got?

Bit annoyed about it, but don't think I want to wait until end of the year.

I think you had best check about the multi link rear suspension with Seat UK. The same mistake was made when the 5 door was first announced that the 150 and above would get it. This then had to be corrected to say that only the 180 and 184 would get it. If you check on Seat Spain website it is only the 180 and 184 SC model that has the multi link rear suspension. Another difference is that you get bigger brakes all round on both the 180 and 184 SC. The overall gearing (miles per 1000rpm) is lower on the 184 compared to the 150 to help acceleration.

After taking my current car in to have two tyres replaced last week then told I had to have another replaced and a full wheel alignment done. Then today a lorry drove in to my drivers door and put a great big dent in it (first accident I've even been involved in), I think it's best for both of us if we move on sooner rather than later!!

I got mine on Monday, having ordered in February through Lex Autolease. It's actually been at the dealer since 1st May

I know it may be a stupid question, but are you sure it's the 184 version and not the 150 ? you are the first person to receive it while most of us can't even order it or expect it end of the year ?!? plus the problem is found throughout europe, so it's not a local problem or some dealer problem.

anyway, please create a new thread, I'm really interested in the new engine and how it pulls

My review was written to try and compare the car to the MK2 Leon, im also no expert so its written by me as a car fan rather than an expert.

Most people (MK1 and MK2) owners seem to hate the MK3, (I remember people hating the MK2 when it came out) and now they have grown into it. I like the MK3, not keen on the lesser models but the FR (Especially the 184) felt nice and when i look at cars i look at them in a tuning aspect. so im thinking of the FR 184 as a 200+ bhp car rather than 184 hehe.

The MK1 is more saloon style

MK2 and MK3 are similar in shape, but the MK3 is more angular

I don't know about it looking like the mk1 but I'd agree the mk2 was never a favourite of mine. I owned a Mk1 Cupra Tdi many years ago and thought it was a great looking car. Never liked the mk2 but the mk3 is a different beast altogether.

SEAT have obviously put out an announcement today about the 184ps version. Pieces similiar to this one and this one have appeared on several sites. So maybe the lead times may be coming down.

When i drove the MK3 5-Door CR184, it was alot better than the CR150

It drives more like a PD engine than CR but is still very smooth, Reminded me of my PD170 but better

if i was replacing the LCR, and it had to be a SEAT it would be a MK3 SC 184ps, just a shame DSG aint available at the moment

Have test drove the CR150 and compared to my current Mazda 3 sport 185 diesel it felt a little slow, due to the lower torque figures. Everything else was superb, which is why I have gone for the CR184 as that will have the performance, married up to the rest of the package.
