there's no denying thatsome will have a problem due to the vehicle modified car = chavvy boy racer whether 18 or 40

But i have found these to be in the minority, maybe i've just been lucky for the past 13 years (13, oh dear, its all gonna go wrong this year)

Simple decision; if you dont drive like a ****** in the first place, you don't give a cop the need to be a "******", or, "do his/her job", as it's better known.

Why would you even need to do that?

False actually, I got pulled for having a headlight out which must have happened mid trip as I always check my lights, copper was being a total asshole from the word go, the way he spoke in an "I can be an asshole is I want to be" way rubbing his keys up against my obviously polished paint while he read my clearly in date tax disc, putting his hat on my roof, I said "I'm not disrespecting you why disrespect my car?" He went over the car religiously treating me like an idiot, and being quite rude, so yes they can be tossers.

I'm a careful driver and I always look around me for said copper bit I drive safe, I prob know what I'm doing and less of a hazard than most drivers on the road, why because I know my car and respect the power it has, I'm not saying I want to light the wheels up just if he could really do anything by not clicking my speed or hearing a wheel chirp, answer is sticky tyres no noise I guess, and I never speed in a 30 or twenty, anyone even police that says they don't speed is a fecking liar....

The only problem with that Captain Cupra is although you look after the car and respect your cars power... for every one of you there 5 of the others, who'll be drving some piece of crap, barely legal racing his mates from light to light through the town centre, and we all get tarred with the same brush..

It annoys me whn i perfrom a perfectly safe overtake but because i have a loud car, thats been modified i get lights flashed and all sorts of hand gestures..
you have a hot hatch ur autmoatically a chavvy boy racer, same as if you got a BMW your overcompensating for something :)

Should have followed the chump back to the station and got his number that would have put a bucket of water on his burning ego.....

All that would have got you is a thourough inspection of YOUR car. If a copper can get caught at 140mph in his own car and get away with it why do you think in a marked police car he won't??

This is true, but when in all that's motoring... tax petrol ect are we not seen as an easy target..... As the recent tax increase proves..

No, a car is just an inelastic product... like cigerettes and alcohol, the price will always rise, just simple economics

I'm not denying it happens CaptainCupra. A few years back I drove a dragon green Mk 3 GTi, lowered front and rear, all smoothed paintwork and bumpers, MASSIVE exhaust (this thing was ridiculous) and I got followed from my then GF's house back to mine at 1:30 in the morning. Not even caning it, I was breathalysed and the car inspected just AFTER I'd pulled into my parents driveway. We've all had duff experiences, but those experiences have taught me things, and I've learned.

We could go on and on about how coppers are nobs, or they're "just doing their job", but the fact remains that your original post was a bit of a daft question. Unfortunately there are power trippers within the job, I see them daily, and these are the guys that unfortunately, one has to just agree with and pay lip service to if they decide to pull you, because ultimately they're the guys with the book of tickets. I absolutely would not begrudge anyone from enjoying their motor, but as stated; time and place.

As others have said it just depends. Regardless of whether the policeman is a power hungry bellend or not (you get good uns and bad uns like you do in every walk of life), there are more driving laws than speed limits. I'm pretty sure spinning your wheels is against the law as it is not being in control of the vehicle or something, you get dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention etc etc. It would depend on circumstances, I doubt booting it past a school would go down too well even if you only boot it to 30 but that is a pretty retarded thing to be doing in the first place.

There's a time and a place, in front of a police car isn't either of those, doesn't matter if you aren't technically breaking any laws, just opens up a can of worms. A policeman is just as capable of thinking "what a ****" as you or I but the difference is he has the authority to do something about it.

Ok so what happens if when you boot it to 30 mph a kid runs out on you? Or a car pulls out of a blind junction? The 1. Something tonne of metal accelerating swiftly then has to stop!......mid acceleration. Now that is classed as dangerous driving as there was no need to accelerate in that manner in the 1st place. But if u were on a quiet road with no other traffic then what would the problem be? If a copper sees u then all they have seen is a car accelerating rapidly for no justified reason, so what are they gonna do? Pull it up and ask what they were playing at.

By law there is no rule as such to acceleration, but accelerating rapidly for no reason can be classed as braking the law or mis use of a motor vehicle on a public road.

Pass the attitude test and you still get ticketed for speeding but they don't give your car a going over :)

Problem is its up to the copper if he wants to be an asshole despite you being a nice polite boy he still will be an asshole and tan your ass with a ticket, if you go swiftly i think we all know the risks, but if he wants to take out the fact that he didnt get the job his missus promised him the night before on you then, he will, good cop bad cop is how it is, law kinda goes out the window in my experience..

Amazing how much experience many seem to have of being pulled over, perhaps its down to the locality? I drive a loud modified car and quickly yet dont seem to attract the police.
If youve been noticed whilst other cars get ignored its either your car or your driving that they've picked up on... so its within your control not theirs.

It cuts both ways too, theres plenty of modified death traps out there, increased power but corners cut on braking and suspension. Its reassuring at least knowing someones keeping an eye on safety.

Apologies for sounding like everyones dad :D

I've been pulled over twice in 11 years of driving and both times they have been **** heads and totally disrespectful and unreasonable, correction once in my leon i have now for a bulb out and twice the same night in a 600hp mustang just poodling along at way under the speed limit doing absolutely nothing wrong, all times I've found them to be difficult and anti towards me, maybe it's just southern coppers...
