I ahve manage to do some basic changes like the heater control lights and carbon in the instruments, but would like to do the once touch folding of the mirrors on locking, but can't seem to find in the menus .

Can someone please point me in the right direction.

I don't know if it depends on your car or vcds version, but some of the options in the adaptation menu are in English, not German like the guides might be worth manually scanning the list if you are struggling with options.

Just been reading your input on VCDS cable purchase and have ordered from same supplier. There is still one thing I am not sure about............ Are you saying you can download the Ross_tech software from their site and use that, OR that you use the software that comes with the chinese cable?

I had to use the software that came with the cable. Tried downloading the real thing and it wouldn't detect the cable.

I am going to see if i can do the cornering light function next chance I get.

Just out of interest does anyone know what the other dislpay option are for,
I have done the carbon bit but on my list it has 4 other options that you can choose.

Received my aliexpress 12.12 cable today.
Used original 12.12 software, not the supplied disk, and connected just fine.

Did not have much battery life on the laptop so I just changed a couple of settings which were the Carbon effect, short press on fob to fold in mirrors, and changed the setting for hill hold assist to early.

After doing the hill hold assist, The ABS,ECR, and tyre low symbols all started flashing and thought I had fooked something, but they all went out after a minute so think it was just resetting itself

All are working as intended, just need to test the hill hold assist, as I assume "Early" means it will release the brakes earlier so we shall see.

I have three options for the FIS, but only choses option 2 for carbon so can't say what the others are.

Will make a couple more changes tomorrow with the DRL's and that will do me I think

Thanks for information. For about 1 month before I bought a cable which must be used with cracked software. I changed some of settings. But i could not change comfort signal number to 5. Then I bought another cable that can be used with original cable. But it has not come yet. And I bought it from the same seller (Allen Lee) too

No probs mate, glad you got it working

I had 3 options iirc, I chose option 3 as a test and I got a message 'out of range' or something similar after I set it so I put it back to option 2, the carbon fibre option.

Personally, I would use one or the other, not both just in case it causes any issues.

People have found malware in the cracked software so it could potentially be risky using the cracked software on the car.

Sometimes cracked software does have actual malware in it, but sometimes it can be a false positive from your anti virus software.

Personally, I would not use the cracked software to be on the safe side.

I adjusted the DRL's to turn off with the handbrake applied today and all working fine
Now I can turn them off with the engine running if I need to

I tried stock VCDS and it didn't find the cable. I don't have a CD drive, so I downloaded the cracked program after a quick google search. I didn't check it for malware, but I ran it in an isolated Windows XP virtual machine. I have a mac, so had to use virtual box anyway, but I turned off the access to the network adaptor so it couldn't 'get out' even if there was anything on there. There's a detailed guide (earlier in this thread I think) that explains how to do it all for free.

If you have a mac, you have to use virtual box, but if you're on windows it's still a good idea to use a virtual machine that's isolated from your main machine and network connection.

Should be pretty safe that way then if using a cracked version.

I did check the cd that came with my cable and there are a few different version of the vcds software loaded onto it.

The 12.12 version on the cd is exactly the same file size as the one I got from Ross-tech, so it might be the same standard sw on the cd.
I did not try to install from cd so can't say if it unpacks with a crack installed or not though

I don't know, as I say I had to download my version from a web site. It's definitely not stock though, it reminds you to disconnect your internet before plugging in the cable and has pop ups with security codes before you enter them to access each module.

Really? I looked in the car menu when I got it but never found anything.
I believe that some settings once enabled in vcds, can then be enabled/disabled via the car setting display.

Mine is set so switch in off position = drl's only come on when handbrake is released.
Auto = drl's always on
Sidelights and main remain the same as before.
