Note sure I follow sir... The SW is as per Ross-Tech (download.ross-tech.com/VCDS/download/C910/VCDS-Release-12.12.0-Installer.exe). On the Netbook Wifi is disabled.

What should I not be trusting? Sorry having a thick moment... ;)

You can still access all the adaptation settings etc with that version? presumably they provided you with an install key to use?

Haven't had time to do any adaptations yet, but plan to. I can't seen any reason why I won't be able to as tis is the latest VCDS SW by Ross-Tech at the moment. I will do and report back.

No key to use or provided. Just installed the Ross-Tech SW and USB driver. Disabled wifi on the netbook and plugged in the cable from Aliexpress. Windows found the driver on the HDD already, but pointed it to the installed VCDS folder. Then launched the app and when to OPTIONS/Test without connecting to Car. It said K1 and K2 were shorted to ground, and CAN questionable. Then went to the car today and plugged the VAG cable in, and ran OPTIONS/Test and everything is OK.

Did a Autoscan and got a list of all the modules with fault report.

Seems okay at the moment. :)

Just anted to update the thread as people new to the thread may still be looking for a cable.

I also recently bought from Aliexpress like other in this thread, and opted for a cable from '2099-Turst Trading'. It is listed as:

2013 newest version VAG 12.12 VAG 12.12.0 Update of VAG 12.10 Support year 2013 for vagcom v12.12.0 with original software

Link: aliexpress.com/item/2013-newest-version-VAG-12-12-VAG-12-12-0-Update-of-VAG-12-10-Support/1552028795.html

Note: this seller lists this as using the original software, and I can confirm the CD included is exactly the same as provided by Ross-Tech. It installed and the cable was detected ok. Hopefully later today I will get to test and let you all know if it was successful.

This supplier/cable if works means you don't have to be careful of Malware / Spyware version mentioned in ithis thread.

I will let you know this afternoon.

Unless you are downloading the software direct from the ross tec website (highly unlikely for Obvious reasons ) and not using the supplied disk that came with the cable
Then you are still at risk of loading maleware spyware etc.
Which is what Keith is trying to get across to you I think:)

That's my point of my post. I am saying, this cable *does* work with the "...software direct from the ross tec website".

Like you I doubted this, but when I did a binary diff of what was supplied on CD to the official ross-tech one. it was 100% binary the same. I was still doubting, but installed it as I had no other SW to use, and *can* confirm my cable works with the *official* software from Ross-Tech.

I wanted to share this with you all so you don't have to use the "other" SW/cable from the other supplier. It seems this cable/supplier I used has a very good clone of the original HEX-CAN cable such that it doesn't need hacked/cracked/malware ridden SW.

I wouldn't update the SW as it will probably break for obvious reasons. Sorry I was just trying to share some good news with all the members.

Can you confirm it has the advanced features (adaptations etc) my cable works with ross-tech lite, but I needed an install key for the software from the ross tech site.

I did staging (needle sweep), Lap timer, and AUTO fan speed indicator changes yesterday using the CODING option on the RHS of the respective module.

I did try to enable FIS Carbon via ADAPTATION, but I think my version of car doesn't have the Display Presentation channel to apply mod. However in all of the above there was no install key requested by the app.

Is there anyway you'd like me to check for you so you are reassured it is right for you? I can give it a try when I get home tonight.

Thats cool, didn't mean to sound like the spanish inquisition. Just surprised it works out of the box. Do you have media Plus? thats required to get carbon background.

I should have Media Plus as my exdem has the tech pack, dab/satnav/led head. It was a wk25 2013 so maybe too early for Carbon FIS?

Wouldn't have thought so, mines not much newer than that. I had some things in german that were in english in the guides and vice versa, so if you can't find the option maybe thats it?

If you fancy it you can also change the position of the clock on the display - I think its byte 9 'compass at top of display' or similar. It swaps the position of the compass and the clock, which I prefer.

Hi everybody. I am using an aliexpress cable with the crack software. I changed some settings as tacho staging and park pilot. But I couldn't change the comfort signal cycle settings. Default number is 3. I changed it to 5. It accepted the change but it blinks 3 times again. Is there anybody who has an opinion about this issue?
PS: My leon FR was built at the 15 th of November 2013.

IIRC there are two very similar options. double check you're changing exactly the right setting.

Cool, My ego would like to think we've only got to the same stage, so I'll do some experimenting tonight, however I too will be without the car for 3 days this week (bloody bodyshop) so faffing time will be limited. Particularly as I want to have a crack at the satnav also.

So did anyone ever get any further with this Leaving home coding for the non auto lights cars?

right, bit of a sheepish request here, I've somehow managed to disable my drls entirely whilst trying to get coming/leaving working. Annoyingly I also reformatted the machine I had the starting coding set on.

Any chance someone can post up the standard coding for the central electric module, as well as their settings in the daytime running light section. As far as I can tell its right, and its perfectly possible its the garage ballsed it when they've had the taillights off.
