and Dean, have you enabled the laptimer and Carbon background.

i cant find the carbon background option, and i've enabled the laptimer but it doesn't show in the menu!

Carbon background needs you to have media system plus I think, don't know about laptimer, but I'll be turning it back off on mine as it'll never get used and is just an extra step from nav to car data sections.

I've a mate who speaks German round at the weekend and we're going to have a crack at the coming home lights. I can't see how it's anything other than a software fix, unless it only comes with auto light or something?

So, coding the coming home lights onto the menu was pretty easy, but they don't work. Looking at the manual that makes sense as they only appear to come on cars with auto lights. Next step is to try and code it to think the light sensor is fitted, and hope it thinks no signal = dark.

They come on cars without auto lights. You just need to flash the lights after you turn the ignition off. The last generation cars could do it in the coding setting rather than the adaptations.

+1.

Let us know how you get on.

I got as far as enabling leaving home in the car menu but unable to activate lights when unlocking vehicle.

My lack of German has been a stumbling point here when trawling the coding options.

I had another crack at this just now and can't figure it out.

Which bit can't you figure out? Getting it on the menus is central elcetric>adaptations>comfort lighting

The light sensor is in one of the byte coding sections. I saw it but didn't set it as wanted to test it first.

I set it, did the duration, put it in the menu but you need to have your lights on for it to work.

Thats farther ahead than me then, I've got it in the menu, but it simply doesn't function. I could live with it only working when the lights are in the on position.

There must be a way of doing this.. Thinking outside the box (dangerous I know!) Could we investigate the coding around the interior lighting? As this performs exactly as we want the DRLs to ie come on when the unlock button is pressed...

If deanc confirms that his works with the headlights on then we've got a fix that will work for me. If not I'll be trying the phantom light sensor when I get half an hour free.

I enabled it in the car menu and tried several times with the light switch in all positions but still no joy.

I've not got my car at the mo. I tried some bits with he lighting config, not specifically 'leaving home' I read on the gti forum. I run out of time and out it back but will look again when I get it back

Cool, My ego would like to think we've only got to the same stage, so I'll do some experimenting tonight, however I too will be without the car for 3 days this week (bloody bodyshop) so faffing time will be limited. Particularly as I want to have a crack at the satnav also.

Just anted to update the thread as people new to the thread may still be looking for a cable.

I also recently bought from Aliexpress like other in this thread, and opted for a cable from '2099-Turst Trading'. It is listed as:

2013 newest version VAG 12.12 VAG 12.12.0 Update of VAG 12.10 Support year 2013 for vagcom v12.12.0 with original software

Link: aliexpress.com/item/2013-newest-version-VAG-12-12-VAG-12-12-0-Update-of-VAG-12-10-Support/1552028795.html

Note: this seller lists this as using the original software, and I can confirm the CD included is exactly the same as provided by Ross-Tech. It installed and the cable was detected ok. Hopefully later today I will get to test and let you all know if it was successful.

This supplier/cable if works means you don't have to be careful of Malware / Spyware version mentioned in this thread.

I will let you know this afternoon.

After some testing using a WinXP Netbook I had, this cable works fine with the original Ross-Tech SW (12.12.0). Everything tested and did an autoscan. All interfaces K1, K2, and CAN test OK once plugged into the cars ODB2 port. If you don't and test (like I did earlier) it will say K1 and K2 short to ground and CAN is questionable.

I still wouldn't trust it. the version I have inserted code into my chrome install (and presumably IE) that appeared to be redirecting traffic to another IP address.

Note sure I follow sir... The SW is as per Ross-Tech (download.ross-tech.com/VCDS/download/C910/VCDS-Release-12.12.0-Installer.exe). On the Netbook Wifi is disabled.

What should I not be trusting? Sorry having a thick moment... ;)
