Just given the car its first proper wash since it had the rear bumper replaced (long story, suffice to say they've had it 5 times and its still not right) and I've noticed theres drill target marks on the black plastic bit round the reg plate:

There are four, about where you'd see the holes on a square rear plate, can someone check if they have them also?

Gratuitous pics as promised, clean red cars look soooo good:

Anyone not settled on a combo for emocion red, Prima Amigo + Dodo Hard Candy looks amazing.

The sensors are on the painted part of the bumper and the marks are partly covered by the number plate so not sure that they are templates for sensors.

They are the marks for number plate for proper and symetrical installation. We can also say triangulation points to them. If the plate was installed the correct part of the bumper, you would not see these marks.

They do look like drill points for the number plate, but they're definitely not for a UK one, they're above and below the plate.

from where smurf123? I am planning doing the same. There are a lot on the market in different styles/materials, so if you are happy with yours I would like to follow.
Thanks,
Bernard.

Saw them on mine when the numberplate fell off after 3 days. :banghead2

Can't see it on mine now though since the plate covers it. I was straight back to the dealer when mine came off - I could have drilled and screwed it on myself but that was not the point.

By the way, if your plate is stuck on rather than screwed on, it would be very wise to get it screwed on instead (by dealer, if they crack the plate it's their problem ;)) , otherwise you might find it on the floor, or see it in your rear view mirror bouncing along the road.

The numberplate sticky pad things do not work particularly well on the textured plastic that is on the FR bumpers.

OK,
just to clarify then, people can only see one completely exposed set when the numberplate has been set properly? I have a set above and below.

So do I. I believe them to be alignment marks. Were very obvious when no. plate missing but over time have blended into the colour scheme

could not make my mind up about the chrome ones so i have ordered carbon ones as well off ebay will be here wednesday was thinking of chrome on the front to match grill surround and carbon on rear

There are 12 pictures of it on the following link:

I have a goodwood green one in good original condition but don't know how to put pictures on here except from web-sites, which is why I cheated with that one.

Some people are doing full Mk1 Cortina restorations body-wise, and then putting modern plush fittings inside - they look fantastic play-things, and sell for about £45,000!
