When I'm hooning it like I stole it, I find that there's - what feels like - a millimetre of accelerator travel when letting off where the car feels like I've hit the brakes.

I have to very, very gently and slowly let off the accelerator when my foot is flat otherwise I'm nearly thrown through the windscreen. Makes changing gear when you're on it quite difficult.

Is this just my driving/getting used to the car do you think? Would a remap smooth this out?

Cheers,
Rich

simplest way i can think of is go for a short drive but try not to use the breaks, then carfull check the heat from the discs and pads and see if one is noticeably hotter than the rest

Nice one. Will do.

I guess this sort of behaviour isn't normal, then?

Err no. Try accelerating to 10-15 mph (in an empty car park or similar) and then drop it into neutral. If it suddenly stops you have a brake issue. As said above, check for hot brake parts, unusual amounts of brake dust, check your handbrake is coming off properly etc.

Cheers K. I suspect it's the handbrake/rear brake system as I've noticed that it actually holds me in-place for a second on slight inclines once it's been taken off. I thought this was a feature of the car. I know, I know, I'm an idiot.

Will post back with findings.

That could be the hill hold assist

Ah, ok.

Didn't think you could have that feature without an electro-mech handbrake.

Maybe my rear brakes are fine then, but will be jacking it up later to see if there's any binding anyway.

So, my driver's side rear brake pad is binding to the disc and all the discs have a distinct lip on both the inner and outer edges.

New pads and discs all round?

Have you managed to free the caliper off? Mine did the same and needed a new caliper. Will need new rear discs and pads as a minimum and a fluid change would be a good idea too as it will probably have overheated. Seres have got a good deal on genuine stuff ATM.

Thanks mate. I didn't even try to free the caliper - didn't know I could. I'm going to a mechanics first thing. Will post back with what happens.

Just dropped it off at the mechanics mate.

He said its possible that the rear disc may be warped so both corners may need replacing. Also said something about a soft hose (I think) when I asked about the caliper. It may also be the caliper of course.

We shall see.
