Hey guys and gals! A garage local to me do remaps, i have enquired about a stage one map, asked them the price and what map they use, they told me they use a company called elite. Im not an expert when it comes to remaps however i know how much damage and problems a bad one can cause! Just wondering if anyone on here knows about or has had one from elite?? Thanks.

Yeah, just got in touch with the dealer! He told me a stage one would see 25bhp increase and a huge 120lb/ft of torque! Nothing like the numbers quoted here with people getting quality maps from revo, and etc! Think i will steer clear! Any harm in asking if anyone knows of a good remapper in northern ireland?

I'm from Ireland too... I recommend Joe Power TDR performance in Dublin.... He's very well known here in the VAG community and most people wouldn't trust anyone else.... he specialises in VAG cars.... he done work on my car too and can't fault him for work or helpfulness. www.chippedire.com

I dont know much about these cars or mapping but that just sounds like a big boost spike. To drive it'd be like a tdi i would think.

I got in touch with a guy who had his s3 done by the same garage offering the remap by elite, meeting him tonight for a test, so if im impressed i will give them a go, they have offered a full refund and return the car to its original map if im not happy! So watch this space!

its actually 120 nm of torque ive been informed, works out around 85-90lb/ft which works out closer to that offered by tried and tested more expensive tuners. Elite have been going for quite a while now, id imagine if they had crap maps, the doors would have been shut long ago! Like i said above, if the s3 impresses me then i will give them a turn!

Ok, had a spin in the s3 last night, and it was unbelievably quick, had a little drag race with my R and he left me in a spray of water! Really was no contest!! So despite my reservations i will give elite a turn and hope for the best!

Just because he left you doesn't mean its a proper map... my r was **** quick when I got it. put it on the dyno and there was boost spikes etc... So I got joe the standard map back on. till I got the clutch service etc. hes doing a custom live map on the rollers..... only way I feel confident....

But even the difference in power when i was sitting in the s3 was night and day! Fair enough the 4wd is a big advantage in the wet, but even if it had of been bone dry, the difference would still have been significant!

Any remap will you make your car very quick..... doesn't mean its a good map..... every engine is different.....

I agree just because it felt quick doesnt mean its not overboosting or running lean. Stick to the tested tuners in my opinion

well if you look at it like that, a proper map is the one it came with when it rolled off the production line, there ain't no guarantees with any map that something wont go wrong! Its finances at the minute that's making me go elite! But maybe i should research a little more first!

Yea. I do agree. but factory maps are safe maps. there well within the engines tolerances.... a remap your getting more power out of the engine do its paramount its done right

A generic map is a man with laptop

a proper live map the car is put on the dyno first to see whats it putting out. this is one thing that defines what the car can mapped to. It also finds underlying problems like I found out my clutch was slipping. I had a misfire in one cylinder and my car was boost spiking. Joe wouldnt tune my car until I got these sorted. I have to go back to him soon... if finances is an issue. save a little longer and get a proper map on a dyno etc..... Cheap way you could end up needing a turbo. shoot a rod or anything..... costs alot more in the long run

I just got of the blower to a garage called ************, they do live remapping on rollers, its a bit of a drive but in light of what you guys are saying worth it! The guy I need to speak to is on lunch so he will get back to me! Its worth the extra few quid! Thanks for all your advice guys very much appreciated!
