Dropping it off Thursday before work
£30 smoke test

Instantly confirmed that they do smoke testing, asked to book in, his reply... 'Well what's wrong with it?'

'I dunno, I'm hoping you'll tell me'

'You want us to plug it in?' He said (knowing he will ring up another £45 on the price)

'Nooo thank you' I said 'it's had this that and the other done elsewhere, long story, just need results of a smoke test please'

'Ok love if you're sure'

**rolls eyes**

Ugh, I'll let you know what happens!!

Car felt fine again until recently it's been running odd.
Intermittent lack of power which got worse, it would occasionally run perfectly bit hit a very quick and sudden 'flat spot' at any speed while cruising, would just suddenly feel like you've hit a massive puddle or brick wall, after a second or two it picks back up.

Driving slowly around town it would be very noticeable and quite often the car would not pick up speed matching the revs given, definite lack of acceleration sometimes, sometimes it would kick in and fly along and sometimes not!
All over the place really!
I have noticed it's especially bad when slowing down and downshifting it would dip then surge badly sometimes taking me by surprise and having to break

Hi,
Please don't shoot me for my following answer as, from what I can see, you are well up on car technology and probably like to get stuck in, but taking a step back at your symptoms are you sure its not a clutch slip wear issue? especially your comment about pick up speed not matching the revs. If it were clutch slip I could see how it may be intermittent and in different gears, and also it biting now and again.
Do you know if the clutch has ever been replaced or is it still on teh original at 134k?

Worth a thought, but I'm sure something like this must have been considered by all the garages you have used so probably not, as i say please don't hang me for this, only trying to help.

All the best and good luck.

Hi, thanks for your input.

I'm pretty sure the clutch is good, it definitely must've had one at some point although not sure when, bite is good and I tested it well for any slip.
Doesn't feel like anything to do with clutch/transmission

Unfortunately and frustratingly so... Smoke test came back clear!

Talking to them a bit more about symptoms and what's been done, they reckon DV issue.
When they questioned the Turbo I really don't think it's anything to do with a faulty turbo but they were wondering about a Wastegate problem.

I'm not so sure though, pretty sure it's not. They haven't driven it (or said they didn't) while I was at work all day.

Sooo back to square 1

Try changing the N75 Valve, a lot of people are having problems with this and once it's changed there carrs fine, would prob try this as they keep saying it ps the DV so I'd prob change the N75 1st.

Suggested that in my first comment, let's hope it is this minor fix :)

I think I mentioned it also lol aw well lol I think it may be that mate, sound like it.

Sorry guys had a busy weekend, I'm off tomorrow so may be able to get a picture of DV (after my hair appointment lol)

I've been thinking though, there were a couple of times on long runs (hour) that I would get a kinda electrical burning type smell. Notice once I got out and stood close to engine. It's definitely not oil. (Or clutch before anyone presumes I ride the clutch he he)

I was thinking no harm in changing the coils??

I can do this myself for sure I know, but is it worth taking a look at them first and what small damage would I look for?? I know if it's obvious but can tiny cracks/rust make much of a difference? The sparks I bought not long ago were platinum decent ones but this was done by a friend so not sure if he would've taken much notice of the coils.

No harm in replacing them anyway along with N75 or would that be mad? I don't think there's any harm in it.

Also is N75 something I can do cuz I'm not 100% on where that is?

If I replace both obviously I'll do one or the other first and give test run to see which one if any fixes it

Thanks again guys :D

Hears were your N75 valve it, got this pic off the net

Sure is, it's always the smallest and the simplest things that mess up the way the car goes

Samantha if you contact SEAT UK and ask if there's an outstanding coil pack recall for your car there's a good chance you'll get fresh set FOC :)
