i have been told by a VW specialist that my leon needs a steering rack but quoted me over 1500 for parts and labour ny car steering is heavy and light on the dash board but i just cant afford that type of money to fix. and i also dont have the part number so i can try to get a cheap used unit. im willing to provide reg number if that helps to get me correct part number or can get the work done for a good price PLEASE HELL

thanks for that mate but i aint sure how i will know which part i need for my car (im new to all this) and if i get the wrong part number but it is a variant will there be problems getting the part coded ?

There should be a sticker in the boot with the information you need. This will give a build date and the code PR-1N3, PR-1N5 or PR-1N7. With these pieces of information, you can look up the part number in the table provided by @Seriously? .

Some of the part numbers have an X at the end. This is accompied by the comment "Detail of the restored at the factory". I'm guessing that these are refurbished parts?

I guess that it might denote steering racks are 'exchange' parts.

Yes, a "body" allowance is changed over and above the initial cost, with that part of the cost being returned or removed when handing in a suitably intact part for exchange. VW Group have been doing this for many years, I seem to remember buying an "X" water pump for my wife's 2002 Polo in 2006 when it got its first cam belt change.

hey guys dont mean to be bother you all but i posted the picture of the sticker in my boot can someone who actually knows how to use the part number checker provide me with the part number i need. thank you in advance

It might help if you posted a photo that is in focus!

The number you're looking for should be on the RHS, a little over half way down. It looks like it's there in your photo but it's impossible to read.

hi guys i had a loom under the car myself and took a picture of what i think is the steering rack part number can anyone confirm if i have got the right part number

From your VIN number it also lists PR code: 1N3

and then the part number for the steering rack as 5Q2 423 055 L

I would still do your due diligence - and call a Seat dealer parts dept, and ask for a price and part number for the rack linked with your reg to 100% make sure you are getting the correct part number.

i tried seat parts and they wouldnt give me a part number even trietrone 9f the parts guys associated with this website is that part i have incorrect then??

The photo you shared wasn't the rack part number. The part number will probably have a QR code next to it on the label.
I believe that part number I shared is correct but it's relying on the part catalog I have access to (it's a none genuine one - but can do VIN look-ups) - but I can't confirm 100% - for your car - so If I were you i'd try and double check that part number from another source.
If you search google with that OE number you can see there have been loads of iterations/supersessions of that number (different letters on the end) and L is the latest.
