Hi Guys,

Looking to buy ODBeleven Pro + 100 credits and Gen 1 device to use on my android phone. Only looking at turning off Auto Start, enabling one press mirrors and reverse parking sensor display.

ODBeleven website seems to be the cheapest place, but can take up to 14 working days to arrive.
1. Anyone know where else to buy at a reasonable price and get it quicker?
2. Is using the One Click Apps safe or is it best to code yourself?
3. How many credits are required to enable the above features? Is it 10 credits per feature or is there a sliding scale etc?

Thanks in advance for any tips / info 👍

1. Amazon Prime next day delivery. One person in South England with a Formentor got it same day where Amazon does same day. Buy just the Android dongle from Amazon. Buy the Pro license off the Obdeleven website. You will be up and running on the day of delivery.

2. I'd keep clear of one click. They aren't tested well and can screw the car up. Code it yourself and you know what to undo. Make notes, screen shots, power & home together etc. History also shows what you have done.

3. The app tells you that once loaded but I wouldn't bother. Candy in a shop but dangerous.

I bought mine from OBDEleven website (as was cheapest option) but selected Amazon Delivery which took 2 days (although when ordering it said it can take up to 5 days).

Hiya... I'd be looking to use the one click apps... Are they definitely risky to use? Anyone on here had any adverse experiences with them?

There is an Ateca Cupra thread:

In the 360' / mirror drop talk. If you have memory seats then there is a variation in coding to the drop down mirror. In their instance I believe that the micropayment app didn't take that into account so did the standard mod. They are only like Excel macros that bang thru standard code. I'm sure it didn't test for memory seat position before hammering the changes thru.

On top of this only vehicles with specific positioning motors fitted in them should the app / coding be used. VAG left out the positioning motor specified one for drop down if it isn't specced for that. Without they drift with repeated use. My19 they had so for the Ateca not in the spec when it was suppose to do it. There is a "Don test" that you can do I named after Don / DV52 who is the international guru of coding. That uses Obdeleven live data to show you what the positioning motor has got inside, the feed back that is used for the micro adjustments to get it where it came from.

It came up before on the Seatcupra Ateca thread where one of the well known experts here said it's not working correctly, they drift with repeated use. I revisited Don's post on the subject and posted up the test - it's on the links to the reply. It was known that the 2016 - 2019 ones in the Ateca didn't have the correct positioning mirror in them. To some extent it's what they pick up on the production line. If they aren't suppose to be specced in that model it will be built with the motor that doesn't do it. On some Ozzie cars where Don comes from the correct positioning mirror was fitted on the left and right. Normally fitted only on the left on RHD cars where they are specced to do it. The subject has rumbled on for sometime.

So that's an example of where a micropayment app has lead into a mess. The poster then managed to make that mess greater with the windows gaining a life of their own 😨. An example of a little bit of knowledge... that old saying.

Coding experts advice against using app based methods. it's in Obdeleven to challenge Carista. Obdeleven covers both bases micropayment apps and proper coding. I wouldn't be frightened of proper coding it's only toggling menu options. Start off small and be careful. Don't get carried away. Record what steps you have taken. You take an original backup and email it to yourself, the history tab shows what you have done. I record Android screen shots of the stages as well, before and after, power & home button together.

Ateca one for pre My20 I have put here which gives you a taste. They are a lot similar to Leon 3 platform. It's only specific lighting units, power boot, panoramic roof which are different plus engine management stuff I never touch.

I've had mine quite a few years now, originally using it on a 2014 Leon and then when I changed my vehicle to a 2018 Leon FR and then to a 2017 Ateca Xcellence, which is my current vehicle. I have used both methods to change items on the vehicles but did run into problems using the long code method once but have used one click apps with no problems, plus its quicker to change back if you don't like the result.

With the annual Pro charging coming in about a year ago for new customers people may think twice about taking it, that is a problem if you like to keep control of your coding. For new models like the Leon 4 and Formentor new systems the apps may not be developed so more of an argument for the Pro. Leon 3 owners who have the Pro already don't have to bother with that cost issue since they are licensed for life even if they change their car.

Suspect the annual Pro license is to fund VW closing down areas in the new platforms. Thus you pay VAG for access either via the micropayment option or the annual Pro license via Obdeleven. Coding cash cow for VAG.

Have you been OK with one click apps?

Just got my OBDeleven module and seems a great little gadget. I have turned down the actuator to 20% and turned on the locking/unlocking chirps but wondered what others who have OBDeleven have done to their Leon?

Thanks

Is it the case that you don't need the Pro upgrade to use the one click apps, only by credits and use basic?

Is the only advantage to the Pro subscription is being able to do your own coding?

Is there any real difference to coding yourself over using the one click apps if there is one for the feature required?

Thanks

Winny

The first is true... The second would be true if you trusted the app to be faithfully implemented. They aren't always.

In 5 years use I've built up 450 credit points, I get one each time I turn it on. Used nill. For new models such as the Leon 4 and Formentor the apps aren't developed fully. Older models app may be useful. The Ateca had zero apps in 2016. That will always be the case.

I always code, wouldn't do it otherwise.

The mods themselves are just using a customisation feature that VAG leaves for itself, they aren't put their for the end user and don't allow you to change everything... only features that VAG considered in the development and haven't locked down via Swap codes... doing more of that now on the MQB Evo platform.

Didn't realise, device delivered today and Pro license code emailed, was planning to use apps to change only; one press mirrors, add visual parking sensor display and auto start/stop off. Wondering whether to seek a refund on the Pro subscription 🤔
Can you still create backups with basic?

Well a couple of examples with launch 2016 Ateca they didnt show the AC fan speed as on VW models, same knob, you could turn that on, gives feed back on whether the blowers are running. Another 2016 launch one was the need to hold on to the lock button for 3 seconds to get the mirrors in. Seat in their wisdom decided they wanted to be different to VW. Obdeleven you could recode so it had the menu and locking method the same as VW. In 2018 models or there abouts they relented with their silly locking method on all Seats with Kessy. These aberrations you could iron out. No apps at the time for that.

There are the boy racer things still in which can be turned on, lap time, needle swing etc. With mib2 you can turn on the infotainment developers menu which has it's uses.

Basically if you are interested in how things work you need to code, the apps are really for novices and as said on the new models there won't be the apps. Then there is the question of the apps going wrong.

Thanks Tell... So can you initiate a full backup and restore with just basic or is a pro license required?

I'm a novice and want to remain one with coding. Only want to make those 3 changes via the one click apps and then bury ODB in a draw, never to see the light of day again 😁

If you see this item arrowed, you tap on it and email it to yourself but without the Pro you wouldn't be able to restore it !.

Thanks Tell... Think for the price I'll just register Pro for added safety.... Do you know where the back is normally stored? In a cloud, phone or vehicle ecu etc?
