It's in the works now and the first photos from installation works are here.
It will be finished by tomorrow noon hopefully.

Usually I have a principle where I don't make retrofits which are not in the original specifications of the model, I mean Leon Mk3. But as the MQB allows this to work on all cars that shares the platform, it is too tempting to have one more entry in the driver assistance menu, so I decided to make an exception. (Also TPMS falls into this category and I've been considering it too)

Hello again,

Here is our Blind Spot Monitoring retrofit in action.

We were trying to mount second-hand 5Q radars (the ones used in the Golf 7) but the slave one proved to be faulty. There were no more 5Q slave radar on hand in working order and finding one would take time so we decided to use 2Q radars temporarily. I'm told that they are newer than 5Q ones generation-wise, but nobody had an idea about the differences between them, feature- or performance-wise. 2Qs seem to work nicely, although the range seems a little bit limited. Most of the time, they detect the cars in the side lanes only when they are really close. Anyway, I might decide to keep them or replace them later with 5Q but I need more information about the difference. Any help & information on this would be welcome. Best regards & cheers.

Fantastic work!
Thank you!

The faulty radar wasted our time a bit too much. We suspected wiring at first but then 2Qs worked fine so it was all about the faulty 5Q slave one. Anyway, all is good now but I'll keep researching to decide whether I should switch to a new set of 5Qs or keep the 2Qs.

Hi, did you use the B or C version of the 5Q units? and what made you choose the version you used?

We tried both B and C versions but couldn't get the slave units work. Master was working fine. Then we tried a set of 2Qs and they just worked. The 5Q slave units the retrofitter guys have on hand were faulty, I believe.

Thanks, Just looked them up and there are at least 3 versions of the 2Q units. Interesting to know what the actual difference is but the 2Q units are used on a very wide variety of vehicles!

There should be small software improvements in each version of both series of radars and codes like B or C denote those improvements, I believe. I wonder more about the main differences between 5Q and 2Q performance- and feature-wise but I didn't hear or read anything about that yet.

Could you share all the parts that were used in the retrfoit along with the cables required?

The data is for left-hand drive and ST models. All information is without guarantee. I used the cable set for the T-Roc.

But be careful. The brackets are for the 5Q0 modules and the specified 2Q0 modules are smaller. I installed these in the 5Q0 bracket using an adapter.
