A bloke at work has just got a new shape Kodiaq on lease and he's had flat battery issues with less that 1k on the clock. Started with warnings on the dash then wouldn't start. That was just a dud battery so hopefully the same thing?

If they suggest taking it on a transporter I would just offer to take it back to the dealer yourself after a jump

To be fair, Scott's car is new enough that you wouldn't expect to need a new battery. And if it does, then better to let someone else do it (free of charge).

If it's not just a battery problem, then at least the Assist folk might identify - and hopefully fix - any underlying issue too.
Probably just a duff battery.
Yes it will be covered under warranty but it would be nice to know the cause. No doubt they check for a load on the battery but I'll pass on what VCDS may show. Ofcourse if it's an intermittent item it may have gone by when it's back at a dealer. Assist reckon is the first call. Make them work. Good reports in the past.
 
Top bloke today. Their tools can't currently diagnose battery drain issues, which the techs have taken up with the higher powers and are at a meeting next week about it. Will charge overnight and fingers crossed won't happen again! I was out washing the car for 2 hours at the weekend just before it happened and the car was locking and unlocking as I walked back and forward. Could have contributed to it as he said the battery can drain quite quickly if the car is getting ready to drive and not being driven. It does more than just unlock.

It always amazes me how much in a modern car "comes alive" when you unlock it. My tame detailer hooks up a CTEK charger to cars he's working on for any length of time with doors open etc.

I think Scott mentioned an electrical fault flagged with lights?
So, maybe there is a phantom draw on the battery. Although car tech is normally good at stopping

Probably worth disabling the keyless access if washing the car!
 
Yes I'm going to minimise any battery drain from now on especially when washing!
I put the kessy keys in the garage out of the way when washing it never mind proxy open and close, without that just brushing on the door handle causes it to lock and unlock ... my solution to leave the keys off me once opened. Suppose with auto lock it would lock again... cue the bite lips emoticon. You'd have to toggle kessy off on yours that has that toggle.

Yes it does sound like a drain over and above.

Well I reckon it's a paint code share as above


I ended up getting my touch up rhodium grey from Skoda dealer since they shared. Probably an Audi dealer colour. Have hit those codes and see where it turns up. Did that before. It is used outside of Cupra.

Mind you never touched up the chips they don't rust these days.

From new I had Kessy turned off, and the Optimate charger lead moved from my Leon Cupra 280 to the new CUPRA and I plug it in to the charger every time it's parked. Now I'm retired it sometimes doesn't move for a few weeks but is always ready to go, and battery still showing as new 3 years on.

Mine sits on the drive not plugged in but with a beefy diesel battery it hasn't let me down (yet). Did preventative maintenance and changed the battery at five years - was horribly let down on the Altea late at night by ignoring the preventative maintenance one. 11pm off to mothers. Nope... don't go to bed I will be arriving late?. Was 2am.

We have the Kessy go to sleep on the passenger side within week often as they are designed to do that. No it doesn't do long journeys now being retired so it's over on 14 miles a week except on holidays. EV next and Faradays rule. The rule of EVs I reckon. ?. Must look up how regenerative braking works ?.
