Hi all,

I’m trying to update the firmware in my Leon.

Currently:
MST2_EU_SE_ZR_P0472T
Trying to go to 0479T.
I’m using a 31GB USB stick, FAT32 with 16kb (smallest) allocation.

I’ve tried both extracting directly to the root of the drive, and extracting to my C drive then copying. The car just says “reading USB 1” forever. I’ve removed the nav sd card.

The furthest I’ve gotten was after about 20mins of reading, “USB1: Firmware update available” or something.

But the device selection for the update (USB, SD, CD) is greyed out completely no matter how long I wait.

Any ideas?

Why 0479? 0480 is the latest release for your infotainment unit

Assuming you're preparing the USB correctly & opening the update menu correctly, try doing the same thing with an SD card
Thanks. mib-helper said 0479 was the latest official, and I know the numbers aren’t always in order of release date. Will go for 0480.

I’ll find an SD card and borrow a reader. Does it have to be an official one assuming the unit is still cid locked, or does that only affect nav updates?

CID only matters for navigation

Its a good idea to also pull out the other card if there is one in slot 2. Slot 1 is the one to use. I know before someone hadn't pulled out the other card from the slot. You naturally assume that someone would do it by the book and just present the card only.

As for mib helper it's only as good as the people that keep on top of it.

Did I mention dont use a Mac unless you use CleanMyDrive on the SD card before putting it in (there are alternatives). There is a signature oonn legitimate firmware and if it's seen a Mac and it's blessed with the hidden characters and they have haven't been removed, it's not going to happen due to the signature not tallying with the contents that now have the pesky characters added. It won't tell you why. Same for mib3 and mib2 high map updates.

Both slots work perfectly fine for software updates

Good point RE the issues caused by Macs, often forgotten about
