Hello All,

Just bought a VZ3 estate with the Akebono brakes, It's currently on the "hailstorm" 19s, looking at an alternative set for winter/all saeason tyres.

Just curious if anyone knows what, if any, other Factory/Cupra wheels will clear the Akebono calipers without spacers?

I'd assume the formentor options to clear the same brakes are all 20s

Thanks

I'd have thought that any of the 19" rims as fitted to the Ateca VZs should fit, as they will clear the Brembo (now Akbono) 372mm brakes on the VZ3.

I had been looking at these, but can't find any info whether the Brembo 4 pots and Akebono 6 pots are the same thickness.

With the clearance on the Hailstorms as is, I'm more concerned that the caliper might hit the back of the spokes

Akebono are bigger than the brembos previously. The rims on our vz3 are either 40 or 43 offset.
I’ve just brought a set of Audi q5 rims. They are an et39 offset. They are a 66.6 centre bore but will run a top quality forged spigot ring to take down to 57.1.

@Gb330vz3 that was the other way i was looking, no issue with running a spigot, just be nice to not need to run another set of bolts for aftermarket wheels.
At least for now.

I think saw a picture of the wheels on another post, have you trial fitted them yet?

I assmume they're also 19s but never sure, VW group seems to flip from copy/paste the same thing in every size, to one-off unicorn fitments.

. . . . .but won't a set of Audi rims run the same bolts as your Cupra? :-k :-k

You're right, I want to use the same bolts.

Aftermarket wheels are normally cone seat bolts, not rounded.

I had a golf R Estate and had a set of factory and aftermarket wheels, It was just annoying having to keep another set of bolts/locking bolt/locking key somewhere safe switching from one set of wheels to the other.

Tried the q5 rims. They don’t fit. Even tho they are et39 😱 they’ll go on with an 8mm hubcentric spacer but that puts them way to far out. So tried with a 5mm and that works but rim won’t sit on the centre hub so baaaad. Would need a hubcentric 5mm but can’t find any or a hub extender which you can get but just to much of a pita to fit and faff with.
So they are for sale now. Beautiful rim too. They will 100% fit the vz2 with the big golf r brakes but just won’t go with the akebono. Loads of clearance on the diameter but the akebono are a thiiiick caliper so catches the spokes

@Gb330vz3 Yeah... That was what i was worried about.

The back of the spokes looked like need a lot of cut-out to clear the calipers on the standard wheel.

I'd guess it needs to be Audi RS range or Porsche wheels to clear the chunky calipers with a factory offiering, else go up to 20+ diameter from a formentor.

Loking more like another set of Hailstorms (if they don't come up at silly money) or aftermarket to be safe sticking at 19s.
