My high beam stalk has snapped internally i think and i cannot put my full beams on. The left and right indicator work fine tho. Has anyone here experienced this problem and whats the best way to get around fixing it?

Basically, my brake switch needs replacing as it keeps blowing the rear driverside brake bulb. Ive been quoted £60 and nearly fainted, then got quoted £80 from a VW Dealership. The part costs £7. Is it easy enough to do yourself? Or should i take it to an independent?
