Why if your going to be selling the car shortly, are you contemplating spending money of changing the suspension....

That sounds like something i'd have done in the past... err have in fact done :cry:

Problems with my stock suspension are resulting in me needing to replace it.
I'm selling the car to someone I know, so I'd rather they didn't end up at my door in a months time with a snapped spring in their hand.

If he doesn't take the car from me, I'll be part-exing it anyway with a sort-of-local Jap import specialist. They'll give the car a check and notice my knackered sus anyway.

Any particular reasons why this set is not suitable?

i wouldnt buy a cheap susp kit, chances are he'll wind up at your door in a months time with a snapped spring in his hand anyway!!!!!!!

i dont think id ever sell a car to a friend, even if i knew it was ok, id always feel responsible for things that went wrong

Well, he's more an "associate", really. Known the guy through the usual town-car crew for sometime. Always said I'd give him first refusal.

Not all that fussed if he comes to me with a snapped new spring.. he can take it up with the eBay seller.. "2 years warranty", apparently.

Nothing wrong with that kit at all, after all whats in a name, had a problem of the car being to low a the rear and they sent me a new set of shocks free of charge a few dayz later. The ride is fantastic and the handling is much improved over the standard setup.
Why pay £300 more for the same sort of ride witha so called upmarket set,i don't see the point at all.

Right, my car is in for an MOT, service, wrap-knuckle replacement and 40mm drop today.

I'm being quoted all kinds of prices for fixed-rate springs and shocks, adjustables and coil-overs.

I've settled on a 40mm all-round drop with an adjustable shocks and spring setup, supplied and fitted for £550. It's an Eiback setup. Would you guys say this was a reasonable price for a "top-name" brand, supplied and fitted?

Secondly - anything over 40mm is sump-suicide, right?

£550 fitted sounds good to me matey for eibach kit, where abouts you getting it for that price; Elite in Dagenham by any chance ???

Do let us know what you think of this set up... :D

And yes i would think 40mm is the lowest you want to go without getting any problems..

Europit Tyres of Clacton. They're my choice of garage for my preferred brand.. the Potenza Re050a... all good.

I've just come back from there now, Chris.

You're right. After some questioning on prices and stuff, it seems his supplier was off on the specifics. Doesn't matter.. have ordered what I need in the form of another set of shocks/springs. Yeh, they were coilovers - which I've avoided due to the amount of mileage I do in my Leon.

I want some level of comfort to remain.

Settled on a Koni SSK 35/35mm drop. Happy with this choice.

Shame I couldn't take the Eibach but they did tick all the boxes.
