Well, the time is here to service the old oil burner, and I've decided to have a go myself!
I was just wandering what would be the best parts for my car. I only ask, as it's a 110pd engine, however, it has been heavily modified (remapped, larger turbo, fmic etc.) and was wandering if any special or uprated parts would be needed?
I plan to change the following:
Air Filter
Oil/ Oil filter
Fuel filter
Maybe discs/ pads
Any pointers/ advice would be much appreciated guys!

One of my mates has got a normal 110 bhp with a remap etc. We just serviced his car with the usual oil, fliters etc and that cost him about 50-60 quid with all the little bits. But he has had to change something to do with the alternator, wether thats to do with the mods or just general wear and tear I dont know.

I think mines chucking out about 200/210 bhp, with the remap etc. aswell, so hopefully will be roughly he same, minus discs and pads (a mates gonna do them for 50 sheets!)
The guy who did all the work and had the car before me is on the forum so may consult him!

His isnt putting that much power out, I think he is running at about 160-170 ish I think. £50 is roughly what he paid give or take a few so sounds about right. Worth seeing what he says mate, especially if he has had the experince with the car!

maybe a new cabin air filter, and you might wanna look in the service book when the timing belt was last changed, also how old the breakfluid is.

did they do a 110 pd? i thought all the 110s were ve. only difference being the oil the pd have the 505.01 spec oil

Must be a 115? 1.9 90ps and 110ps outputs were VP injected. I know this because my sister had an Ibiza that was 90 and that was VP and she had a Passat with a 110 output and that was VP. PD 1.9's were 115, 130 and 150.

It's the 2001, I believe it to be a 110, however can't be too sure as I'm in Afghanistan at the minute so can't check! Would there be a massive difference in servicing parts?

It's a 110 VE, not PD.

What's been done to this car? - which turbo, which injector nozzles, which other supporting mods?

Which type of brake discs & pads are on it at the moment?

Some of the work-
PD150tdi inlet manifold
Garrett VNT1756 hybrid turbo
Bosio race 520 diesel injectors
Oil cooler pd 150 tdi
Arp2000 head studs
Reconditioned head
Malone tuning remap
FMIC with custom forge pipework

The brakes are standard, just have Goodridge stainless steel hoses!
Deliberating whether to fit some Brmbos or not! Lots of coin, not so much need!

You have a distribution pump diesel, at least the one in your album certainly is. Not a PD.

Not that there's any difference in the servicing tasks, and only the fuel filter will be different in terms of the parts you need, unless you are at a 5year/60K interval and the cambelt needs to be changed. That needs some special tools to lock the diesel distributor pump, crankshaft and camshaft.

Standard service intervals and tasks for TDI Leons:

Oil change service every 10K
- change oil and filter
- check brake pads and disks

Full service every 20K or 12 months, whichever comes first
- change pollen filter
+ check lights, tyres, wipers, "fan belt", toothed belt, steering, driveshaft gaiters
+ levels in gearbox, coolant, hydraulic fluid, power steering, screenwasher

Vehicle exterior
- Door retaining straps: grease and lubricate locking pins
- Sun roof: clean and lubricate guides

Not in service schedule but worth doing - lubricate bonnet lock.

Additional items
every 40K,
- change air filter
- change fuel filter

every 2 years
- change hydraulic fluid

every 60K or 5 years
- change toothed belt

Front brakes on the TDI 110 are FS-III calipers with 280mm disks. Upgrading to bigger disks is difficult as the calipers are bolted to the hub.

Hi there,

That's quite a set-up: I think there's only 1 car like that in the UK and I remember reading about it a while ago; it was built by a middle-aged quiet enthusiast who read tdiclub.com and sold on Autotrader or eBay to someone on here who got it cheap, then he sold it quite quickly to another forum member, I'm guessing yourself.

Those mods are what I'd like to do to my 110 Leon, apart from the hybrid turbo: it would be better with a GTB1756VK.

However, I am shocked to hear it's still got standard 110 TDI brakes!!

I had to do a double-take when I read that! That's outrageous with that amount of mods!

At the very least you should do what I did and get some FDS1398 Ferodo DS Performance pads, priced at £100 a pair and there's a LOT of difference!

The problem with upgrading the size of the brakes on the 110s is having to upgrade the hubs too, as well as the carriers and calipers, so it becomes very expensive, and I'd try the DS Performance pads first.

I believe pal, you are correct! The guy who sold it(forum name jasengine!) was a top bloke, and indeed, I did literally steal it from him! I don't, however, intend to let all his hard work go to waste!
I think I may just get some drilled discs and uprated pads, rather than put Brembos on, the wife may have a coronary!
I may take it to a few meets, didn't realise it was a one off! May be worth showing it off! (don't worry, I woldnt dream of passing the work as my own.)
I may actually start my own readers ride thread, I still have the pics of the work/ progress he did! It's got to be seen to believed!
If your interested, I'll pm you the work he did so you can gauge the costs/ work etc.?!

Hi there,

I thought I recognised that description!

As far as I'm aware, it is indeed a one-off, and it would be interesting if you posted up some pics.

You could PM the details if it's not too much trouble, as it'd also be interesting, although I've sat down and had a good go at working it out before....it certainly adds up, and I'm thinking the effort would be better put into a Leon 4 TDI 150, as it's got a stronger bottom end and internals to begin with, and has the advantage of Haldex '4WD' to help get more power down to the wheels which is where you want it.

As a stepping stone to possibly more with the 110 BHP car, I'm thinking of using (correctly set-up and balanced) R520 injector nozzles with the standard VNT-15/GT1749V turbo (a new one), which may sound crazy to some people, but with the way tuning/mapping has advanced in North America (i.e. Malone Tuning, TDTuning, Rocketchip, etc), it's possible to do this...and without smoke....it's all in the tune/map.

Using 250+BHP and all that torque on a FWD is a waste really.

I know you're not running as much power as that currently, but with a GTB1756VK instead of that hybrid you probably would be round about there.

N.B. Don't use drilled discs, as they've been known to crack, so if you want some fancy discs which actually do something extra, get some eliptical grooved discs made up by Badger Bill on the Badger5 forum here on SCN. They are your Best option and for pads get the DS Performance, as I couldn't find DS2000 (better) in the FS-III 280mm brake size, but possibly they are available. (I did find some info suggesting they could be).
