I also want to do this. I've spotted a few possibilities, but I'm not sure the cable I want to use will squeeze in the gaps. I'd rather not drill holes if I can avoid it!

there are two black round gromet on the passenger side under the bonnet. these will get your wire into the car 1nce removed. the gromets are just under the windscreen on the passenger side!!

Anyone have any pictures of these grommits? I'm too lazy to look right now and i'll betoo blind to see it!

It's a fairly easy job, but here's how I did it, just for fun...
1) Remove the first gromit.
2) Remove the trim (see image2), to gain access to gromit 2.
3) Open the glovebox, and remove all the Torx screws you can see, and remove the upper part of the glove compartment (as if to gain access to the airbag). Don't pull it away too hard, as the wires from the airbag on/off switch aren't all that long. This gives you easier access to where the wires will come through.
4) Feed your wire(s) through the two holes. You may find the second hole annoying as there is some material in the way. I used a screwdriver to push it out the way a bit whilst I fed the wires through.
5) Sorted!
Oh and if you open up the top of the battery cover, you'll find 6 +ve terminals. On my car one was unused (40A rating) - bonus!

I used the grommit in Dave's first photo. I am going to assume that you are planning to put either a 12v socket in the boot or a asupply for an Amp.
If its a 12v socket you putting in (like I have), I recommend the marine one that Maplins sell.
It fits perfectly in a hole in the metal work on the left side of car of the boot. You'll see what I mean when you pull the carpet back to run the last bit of the cable through in to boot.
Also don't forget to fuse the cable at the battery. I have fitted an in line fuse holder with a 10 Amp fuse in.

What did you do to the gromits afterwards? Did you just seal the line? I know nothing about cars!! Electrics is easy!!
I actually used the grommit, just made a hole slightly smaller than cable in it and pushed cable through them.
Thats because only because I don't plan to take it out again. It also mean the cable is protected from metalwork and only requires minimal sealing afterwards.

All cables are now in, just got to solder the amp ISO connector on to my speaker loom extension then install it. Fingers crossed it works OK. Will be posting pics shortly!
