Same boat mate, I'm basically getting exactly the same symptoms but my code is 17963 which is an overboost one! Gonna bite the bullet and get it leak tested shortly, I'v had enough of no power!

Latest update, chaps, I fitted a boost gauge, I'm running 0.5-0.8 bar, still got the code, an feels like a lack of boost at times, dispite being within parameters, it's an odd one :s

It does like to hiss/ whistle (most times) under acceleration, I'm thinking possibly a slight boost leak, and n75 doesn't like it... It sounds like its dumping boost, before the recirc valve gets a chance...

Spot on fella, mine is exactly the same symptoms, goin to plumb place see how much an end cap is to build a boost leak tester..

Good idea Richie, certainly a lot cheaper than buying a kit!
Mine is gradually gettg better, (jinxed myself now lol!) generally, I've even fiddling with the split r lately, (full recirc anyway) seems to b helping, I occasionally hit limp mode though, it's a little annoying but last time, I managed over 100 miles and she felt like a different car, then as soon as I say 'I think the split r is set up' (on another thread)I hit limp mode (0.3 bar boost) within 10 miles! Arghh!

Could be the variable vanes sticking in the turbo
Wynnes turbo cleaner=£10 worth a go
New turbo £250-700 parts alone (k03s) ouch
Maybe n75? £50 ish

Just an educated guess...

(DIAGNOSED) Here goes, I've jinxed myself already!
I think...
The problem was the recirc valve, I've established that the old unit holds less than 0.4 bar and the new one (holds 0.6-0.8 bar) its a split r
Need i say more to those of you against the splitters! (I agree, slightly)
I spoke to amd and they said its probably just the way the valve is as they have a tendency to leak regardless to how well serviced or set up they are.(even full recirc)

I didn't say I'm chucking it though!
It sounds too good!

I also have a slight leak from the 'pancake hose' so ill be taking the seal out for the 3rd time and making sure Tps get me the right one this time, as we now have oil drippage.

Yes. I know lol. You've been telling me for a while now, I just thought, as a friend has no issues with his, I'll be ok with mine, it'll be less of a problem when it's remapped:) (hopefully)
If its that bad, I might just have to listen to you lol ;) standard/ 007/008p
The fault code is Intermittent now, better than consistent, and feels better to drive...
Just out of interest, Where did you get your knowledge from lee? Are you a mechanic/ In the motor trade?

Split-R = Leaky DV

Replace it with something which works and does'nt leak and check your other pipes for leaks also..

smoke test it if you know somewhere local who have this kit (I do)

4 things:

Check the pressure control valve in the crank breather system
Check the MAF wasn't manufactured in 2001
Go to seat and see if there is a software update for your ECU that will cure any intake air temp related issues
20vt engines don't use VNT turbos

Fault code 17705 was created to test every mechanics metal, I've come across it numerous times and always found the cause which seems to be different every time.
