18" Wheels on 2006 Ibiza Cupra Tdi?

Has anybody fitted 18" wheels to a 6L Mk4 Ibiza Cupra? I was thinking of OZ Superleggera or LCR 18" wheels? The OZ's come in 18x7 so I could get a lower profile has anyone tried? If it is possible I may have some Cupra wheels for sale!!! Any help would be great as I think it would look awesome.

Reckon 18" would slow the acceleration down a bit? But if you do sell the Cupra Wheels keep me in mind...

17inch seem to be the poular choice, i think 18" would be to big and make the handling worse

I had 18" on my mk2. Too wide, scrubed on my suspension mountings.

Have to make sure the wheels you are gonna fit will clear the front brake calipers! Cupra alloys stick out for a reason!!!

relatively happy with 17" here. 18" i think you'd really notice your acceleration and turning handling becoming sluggish

Ok so this is on German but looks good on 18"s!!

But I agree with the others, acceleration, handling, turning etc will all be compromised.

I dont think the German Ibiza's have the AP brakes.

Thanks for all the comments. If the overall diameter/width is the same i.e Toyo proxes 205/35/18. and the wheel is lighter i.e OZ ultraleggera, how can the handling/acceleration change? I need to check out the brake caliper situation! But I think LCR wheels would solve this. Does anybody know the width of an LCR wheel 7, 7.5 or 8j? thanks again

The AP brakes are bigger than the LCR's Brembro's...

not sure they would still fit.

I put 19s on my cooper s, didnt change the handling/acceleration at all. Only thing was it was a bit bumpier because of lower profiled tyres

I'd imagine the ride would be appalling on 18" rims - it ain't exactly smooth on 16's!

My 2005 6L Sport is on 215/35 18s and lowered 45mm. Ride isnt really that bad at all but there is a noticable increase in roadnoise. No rubbing issues either using a 35mm offset. Sometimes touches front bumper mount on drivers side on full lock if the car is fully loaded but ok apart from that.

Acceleration is slightly (and I mean slightly) dulled but its at lower revs on the motorway so it makes up for it there. Handling isnt too bad, the tyres are stretched so you do notice this is you are cornering very hard but in general not too bad.

There is only a 9mm difference in rolling radius between these and the 215/40 17 that many people on this forum recommend so its really not that big an issue. The speedo doesnt even read out. (I have checked this against a GPS Road Angel)

A lot of people rubbish things that they havent tried themselves so take advice with a pinch of salt, even mine as I dont know about the brake clearance issues!! Just check the offsets. 35-37mm on a 7, 7.5 or 8x18 should be fine.
