That’s some spirited driving!!! I usually get 360-380 miles of a tank of vpower in my Cupra300 driving in a similar manner

Not sure what I'm doing wrong ... filled up with V power again, drove conservatively, always in D, normal mode, and this time I managed around 260 miles and 29mpg before the fuel light came on ...

FWIW, just noticed that the technical details on the price list have finally been filled in and confirm the new 2.0 TSI 190 has 320Nm of torque; up from 250Nm on the old 1.8 TSi 180.

Although the 0-60mph time for the DSG has officially increased to 7.2 seconds, even though the Audi brochure claims that same engine tune with DQ381 in the A3 does it in 6.8secs :think:

2.0 TSI: 190PS at 4200-6000rpm / 320Nm at 1500-4100rpm / 7.2secs / 45.6mpg
1.8 TSI: 180PS at 5100-6200rpm / 250Nm at 1250-5000rpm / 7.1secs / 48.7mpg
1.5 EVO: 150PS at 5000-6000rpm / 250Nm at 1500-3500rpm / 8.2secs / 55.4mpg
1.4 Eco: 150PS at 5000-6000rpm / 250Nm at 1500-3500rpm / 7.9secs / 57.6mpg

45.6mpg on the 2.0 compared to 48.7mpg on the old 1.8? I thought the whole point of the engine change was for better economy lol

According to the “Real MPG” figures submitted over on Honest John... the new 2.0 190PS returns an average of 38.4 miles per gallon with manual shift in the Audi A3 compared to 40.4mpg for manual version of the old 180PS (or 35.2mpg for those equipped with S-Tronic) so I guess the only reason to upgrade is for the extra 70Nm of torque!

Perhaps if the Leon hatchback came with the option of AWD I’d be tempted, as that’s a full second quicker to 60mph but only 3mpg worse off.

Remember though, the old one would've been under old NEDC conditions whereas the 2.0 would be under the new WLTP conditions.

I was wondering the same, if the figures are full WLTP, or correlated NEDC (taken and back converted from WLTP).

Moving on to a Volvo V40, it's original NEDC figures were 51.4mpg, after they did the WLTP testing, they had a correlated NEDC figure of 49.6mpg. I would be happy if i could get anywhere beween 38-43mpg in real driving conditions 'city' figure is 40mpg on paper correlated NEDC.

Back to the 2.0TSI, I guess you could realistically get mid-30s mpg on a tankful. Perhaps on 40-70mph roads, around the 40mpg mark.

FR Sport 190 2.0 TSI DSG - 3 weeks old, 700 miles. I must be doing well! Routinely getting 39mpg on a 80 mile trip on mixed roads. Winding rural, A-roads and Motorway. Sticking to speed limits (too much enforcement) but flooring it for overtaking (and fun). Then consumption drops to 6 mpg which slows me down pretty fast LOL!

Generally use Normal / Sport mode, but with DSG I'm surprised to find the Eco is worth selecting once up to cruising speed and want to avoid points! Even in Eco, when performance is needed, it's so easy to just pull the gear selector back and drop into Sport. Response is impressive.

Previous FR 184 TDI did up to 50 on the same run, so I'm not unhappy with 39 from the TSI, and I guess I might get it up to mid-40's on a longer Motorway run. Local driving turns in about 30 mpg which is also pretty good I think.

Like others here, I'm finding this is a very quick car and very nice to drive. I fear it has Speeding Ticket written all over it, so I have to be sensible (well mostly!) DSG and DCC are fantastic. Comfort mode on the local rough rural roads is a big improvement for passengers. Throw in progressive steering, digital cockpit and heated leather seats and it's easily the best car I've had.

I did suffer the issue of missing steering wheel paddles and I'm due a £250 refund - dealer told me it was a permanent change of spec and the decision wasn't communicated to the SEAT marketing boys. Not really too bothered they're missing as so far I haven't found the need to take manual control and there's always the gear selector to use. Generally I'm happy to let DSG and Drive Profile take care of things.

Definitely recommended.

From what ive read it was a mis-build and not a spec change.

It's actually a mis-build issue (yes, another one!)

FR and FR Sport models with the 2.0 TSI 190 DSG-auto engine built/confirmed for production from cw31 to cw46 have been/will be built without them. SEAT are offering £250 cash/accessories or a 4 years/75,000 miles extended warraty to affected customers.

Thanks for clarifying @Stoob . I acknowledge that @Scrogg has inside info and mis-build is the answer. Soz - I should have made it clear that I was simply reporting what my dealer said at the time.

There was some muttering about mis-build but since mine was the first FR Sport they'd sold, I don't think they knew the real story at the time. In fact it was a surprise to them when I pointed it out at handover! Luckily, since I wasn't all that bothered about paddles (nice but not essential for me) then I didn't pursue the issue and gladly accepted £250 [B)]

Even after 5 weeks I'm still at the "were waiting to hear back from SEAT" stage from my dealer lol

Yeah. Just been reading the thread with your sad story! I now fully understand your clarification of the root cause! Pretty grim - I hope things get better for you and others fighting for resolution..

I do feel that maybe I rolled over too easily, but as I don't miss the paddles, I certainly don't want all the hassle I read there. When I bought mine, DSG models already landed in UK ports were said to be in very short supply and I had to move fast to get hold of one. Cynically, that might have all been high pressure sales, of course. Who knows?

Anyway, although I did think of rejecting the car, they stuck with the scarcity story and said the lead time to get a replacement was well into Summer 2019. Apparently they already had several DSG factory orders waiting for months.The lure of 0% deposit & 0% finance was just too good to miss, (free money !). That ends 31 December AFAIK so I took their story at face value and just stuck with it (maybe gullible :fool:). On balance, I'm happy with my outcome, but I agree that for you and many more, it's been far from SEAT's finest hour.

My Cupra 300 gets 33-39mpg for “Normal” driving with it dropping to mid teens for some spirited driving.

That sounds pretty darn good to me. My limited experience of a 190 TSI makes me really fancy the idea of a Cupra 300 now. But not so sure I could resist temptation and the mental image of me potentially wrapped round a tree is not so appealing :scary:.

For now, I'll look forward to improving my consumption as the engine frees up!
