A drilled airbox isn't in the same league as a blown turbo though.
The bonus is, if the garage is a SEAT dealer, they will be able to rectify the problem for alot less and it will only shave a bit off their profits, instead of you paying up front.

sorely tempted and thanks for your advice... i will just need to see how many other people would do the same

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN MY SHOES

play dumb
get it fixed

cheers folks

Get it looked at and then be honest with the garage who are taking in in exchange. They may simply drop the price and take it anyway, or they may refuse to take it until it's fixed, but you cannot give them a car that you know is faulty and expect to get away with it.

How would you feel if they sold you a car with a problem like this? You'd be the first to complain, demand money back, threaten to take them to court.... the same goes both ways.

a shot at transmission is though!!!!!!if it was me id go out for a drive with one of my mates following me, drive it steady let them know how bad it is.like you say if it only does it when its boosting happy days as far as i would be concerned.

ROBM, i am not saying that i am going to sell them a duff car, i am going to look into it and try and fix it... but there have been a few people that recommend i trade it in as it is, and 2 that say get it fixed. as you say it could be something small like a £10 sensor but i am going to see what the mechanic says first. i just asked for peoples point of view.

im not saying palm off every dodgy car to a dealer.just that you wouldnt just go and buy a car without giving it a thorough check and test drive.they should do the same as far as i can see.and they almost never do!!

Tbh, what i'd do is look into what the fault is, if it's going to rob your wallet ££££'s then take the car in and say to them, that it started on the way there, and see if they can still do you a deal with an adjusted p/ex value on yours, at least your being honest, and then if you get any problems with the car your buying they'll be more likely to do the right thing aswell....

Thats the theory any way......
