time will tell

and yes i was bored

I'd get it fixed if i where you m8. As specially as you have said something on here now stateing there is a known fault. This site has alot of Seat dealers on it who could well read this. Then from your profile, just as i have done find out your location, DOB and the car you drive.

Ken

Please tell me you were aware of the fact that Seat dealers, the Police and Insurance companies all monitor and view forums like this?

hes not killed anyone or as far as im aware done anything wrong!!dont get what all the fuss is about!!!dont think that seatcupranet is a police piority right now!!!
id trade it in as normal and after everything is signed off and the deal done, they can freely ring you or contact you to discuss matters.surely after they have taken the car they have no proof that YOU are responsible for the fault!!!

few years back (about 7) i traded my fiat coupe turbo in for a seat ibiza 16v at a main dealer ,, (seat)
the fiat was mint apart from a little knock for the bottom end and i mean a little ,only noticeable at 4000rpm plus.
i didnt tell them about it, after all im buying a new car out with the old etc etc
they came to my house later that day demanding the ibiza back:(

i had to go back to the dealer and sort it out ended up costing me a grand extra i was well peaved

well i was aware of this but didnt think i was doing wrong from asking peoples opinions... as i said before i will see what my mate says tommorrow, i fhe doesnt know then it will be down to the garage... if it is going to cost £££ then i will see how things go... thanks again for all your views

nightmare mate i was so
but at the time i was bout 21 didnt have a clue
but i learnt from it now
2 salesmen came to take the bezza !!! never went back after that
funny thing is thay still send me invites to look at there stock

TEDVEGAS
that is unreal. i thought you would have told them to poke it!!! they cant come to your house and do that surely??? sold as seen...

Sold as seen offers little protection, they still have rights m8 and also proof now that you know there is a fault before the exchange. Best thing to do is find out what the fault is and then dertermine the best route to take.
Hopefully its something and nothing for you and does not cost an arm and a leg to fix.

Ken

Owen it could well be the oil seals on the turbo blown.
Sometimes mate the headache you'll cause yourself just ain't worth it.
Confirm the problem and fix it.
Worst case:-
1. Replacement turbo........£300
2.Labour..........£150 or elbow grease, one weekend, gasgets etc £50

£450 to fix worst case. Is it worth the stress and implications. :headhurt:

to be honest you buy a car from the stealers and unless you get warranty you get shafted for any faults that a dealer would have known about or should have known about when they so called inspected or serviced it. If your not mechanically minded how do you know its a problem.

I would do one of the three things below,

1)trade it in, if it running ok now and let them get on with it

or

2)ring them and say its developed a small problem and thought you should tell them before you trade it in.....

End of the day most trade ins are done by a salesmen that is clueless with regards to engine problems etc. Some times and only sometimes a mechanic will give it a once over before they give you a price but not that often. If your not a mechanic then its not your problem that its got this fault.

3) Get it repaired.

Jesus, how many times have we been ripped off by garages?

Take it in and screw them!!!

Sold as seen is not worth the paper its written on, yes they could take you to trading standards, but it will cost them a fraction to fix so hugely doubtful.

i really think the police have got better things to do with their time than monitor sites like this there must be thousands of sites on the internet worth watching. " ooh i did 120 miles an hour last tuesday" how would this be proven in a court of law.... what would you rather watch mr plod. "c'mon islam rise up and slay our oppressors" or " my car might be knackered but i'm not sure" i know what my money would be on. if they don't notice it don't tell em. when you buy a car from the stealers second hand do they tell you the tyres need replacing ?and by the way the exhaust will need replacing soon" no. only if you check them. christ on a bike, stealers rip you off everyday and even if you have any problems with the new car, they'll hum and haw about it anyway. sod em

if it is the turbo seals then i might just repair it. if so i can get hold on a second hand turbo for £120 me and my mate can fit it (crap job but i am not paying someone to undo then redo 6 nuts and a couple of hoses)... i will find out tomorrow and let you guys know the rusults. if it isnt obvious then i will see what happens

the more i hear people say stuff the stealers i think yeah why not.... after all i have been turned away when i had a gearbox pack in on my peugeot 206 and they would not fix it under warrenty, but hey that wasnt SEATS fault... even though i am sure some of you guys have been mistreated from a SEAT dealer before........ i am now in the opinion that if it isnt an obvious problem that i can fix myself i will take it to a garage for them to look at, if they dont know or they say it will be £££ to fix then stuff the stealers, i am here to look after me, just like the stealers are there to look after themselves...

don't do anything until you diagnose the fault, I thought my NEW turbo had gone as I got the massive puff of black smoke on boost but after inspection I found a pressure hose had blown off the clips (worn clips) between the exhaust and intercooler.

I know yours isn't a diesel but the same principal applies. Always check the hoses, the clips they put on these days are made out of chocolate
