mates got a Mk4 Ibiza, 2002, its the 1.2, has a huge issue, wont start!, turns over, till the battery dies!

things that have been tested are, fuel ok!, sparks ok!, compression ok!, timing ok!

ecu did report, cam position sensor error and a egr valve error, but only once!

reset the ecu, and no other warnings come on,

any ideas!? my mate has had to get another car , and the seat is just rotting on his driveway!

any ideas?

thats fine, needed charging due to trying to start the engine,

what was the cam senosr error ?

signal out of sync?

have you had a new timing belt fitted recently or could it of slipped a few teeth

er, not sure, egr, one, was "out of bounds" i think, will find out!

reported codes are "EGR deviation" , and "cam position sensor"

engine just constantly turns over, never starting, till the battery dies

again, sparks and fuel are fine, no reported codes (ecu)

got to be timing?

means the expected signal doesnt time in with the signal from the crankshaft sensor

your timing belt has slipped teeth - you need to get it re timed

see my post 5

thanks for fast reply! car has done 80+k, very loose alt belt, that got changed, a mechanic has said timing is fine, tbh i have my doubts!

timing chain not changed!

get it to a vag specialist , whats the belt interval on a NA petrol engine (120k?)

deffo something up , cam and crank position doesnt add up

right, got the car back on the road, needed new cam chain kit, and rebuild of the engine ( new valves and stuff)

still have many issues, its been to the seat dealer, they have had teh car for about 2 weeks, and say its a J500 Power steering control unit that is over heating, and causeing the power steering to turn off ( and then you have turn off the engine and restart , and then it happens again)

this is a 1.2 , since when does it have a J500? why are they £750? why are dealerships useless?

since the first post the car has had 3/4 diffrent people look at it, and the Seat dealer is useless to say the least.

Hello all. I have just cleaned my Seat Ibiza with a pressure washer and waxed it and cleaned all the interior. When i went to move my car the engine will not start and it keeps ticking over. Do you think that i have wet the spark plugs or something like that? The reason i am asking this is i am ment to be going to Cardiff in my car tomorrow but the engine is not starting which means i will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

How do you mean "the engine won't start and it keeps ticking over"

What engine size, mileage, model etc etc

Phoned them this morning and told them that it could be the timing chain.
Just got off the phone to them, he said that it possibly is the timing chain and they are now stripping down my engine but because it is done through the warranty company they have got to be careful because it is worn down through the driving but if they say that i need to pay i will just charge the company where i brought my car from or they can have it back and i will have all of my money back :)
