Hi there, First post wahoo !

I have been lurking these forums for a while and will soon take the plunge and purchase myself a LCR.

As i have limited funds i will be looking at 2002-2004 cars. As i understand, 2003 was the crossover between AMK and BAM engines. Correct ?

My question is...
On 2003 cars how do I tell the difference between a BAM (225) engined car and a AMK (210) engined car ?

thanks guys

thanks for the replys guys,

seems to be a few mistakes in the guide though, any idiot proof way of telling ?

the engine code thats the only way :D thats the way i found out itwas a210 not a 225 but theres not much diference in performance:)

I had the same problem with my 03 LCR. First registered in july 03 and the dealer said it was a 225 how little they know there own cars. theres only 10 bhp between them and the main difference is the stearing wheel, 225 has a smaller one with side grips and a little R badge at the base. But just look at the sticker under the boot carpet back left

Mistakes? How very dare you.

As siad - look at the engine code. Front left (as you look from the front) of the head on a fly milled flat spot.

Another clue would be stone guards on the front disks - I doubt anyone would bother retro fitting them...

A thousand apologies feel, didnt mean to sound rude (blimey only just got here!)

i just ment some replies after the guide were contradicting what was said in the, may i say, very well put together post.

thanks for the advice, very helpfull

No problem, I should've put a smilie on the end :D

Thanks guys, so basically I will have to take my chances and go and view the car to see if its the BAM engine code.

I have heard that they re-map to the same power (around 265?) Is this true ?
Revo also lists their stage two as getting both the 210 and 225 to the same power output

you can ask a couple of questions to get an indication:

ask has it got teardrop mirrors? if not its a 210. If it has it could be either.

Has it got a red stripe at the top of the steering wheel? if so this is probably a 225, although some 210s had this changed over.

This way you will have a good idea before you go; but yes to be sure you need to check the engine code.

ive had both engines the amk and bam and i cant tell the diffrence, it would be intresting to see what power it puts out as im still using the ecu from the amk engine .

from my own awfull experience of buyin 2nd hand cars , if the choice was between a 210 from a proper dealer or a 225 from a 2nd hand car dealer , id go for the main dealer every time

i presume an engine went bang then?
