ok, so i know there are loads of threads on the subject of 17's and lowering, but I've done a search and its left me a bit unsure!

Picking up some 17's tomorrow (leon starsfish :D) and will be needing to change the tyres on them. I intend to the lower the car on springs and shocks, say -35mmm and not going crazy low on collies. Will i be able to run 215/40/17's without rubbing ? Does anyone have experience of this?

I'm leaning towards 215 as they offer a bit more protection to the rim than the 205's usefull with the local potholed fen roads!

I'm running 205s but 215s would be fine as long as they are 40 profile!

gone for 215's, bit more protection and some more rubber on the ground. Has anyone actually measured tyres and noticed that their actual widths are 10-15mm shy of the widths stated??

Completely depends on the tyre you buy.

the 215/40/17 Eagle F1 GSD3s that I run now, have approx 4mm less sidewall than the 205/40/17 Toye T1-rs I previously ran.
