There is an excellent thread in the Mk1 Leon FAQ's (1M) 2000-2006 FAQ, titled "210/225 Differences", read that, should have everything you need to know mate. I have the 210 version, my friend has the 225, and i must say there is such a small difference in performance, although i have an induction kit which helps!

I have a 210 you can buy if you got a spare engine lying around!

Definitely worth checking out that FAQ, would post a link, but I just joined so no URLs for me yet!. Just good info to know, even at a cosmetic level, to see if some unscrupulous person is passing off a 210 to you as a 225 - might not make a diff car wise, but, I'd rather someone was upfront with me... I'm in the market for buying too, and it was just good research to read it all.

very little difference between the two. mainly minor cosmetic differences:

early 210 models have mk4 golf mirrors - as mentioned later 2003 models have teardrop mirrors

the steering wheel in the 225 has a little ring at the top showing the centre of the wheel.

i think the 'cupra' badge in the back in black on 210 and red on 225.

then there are little changes like the shape of the floormat clips!

in the 'differences' thread it mentions something about the diameter of something in the engine being slightly bigger on the 210 (might have been conrods or summat) but i expect would make minimal difference in internal strength.

the main power difference is just the way the car is mapped as standard by seat and any mods and i remap would leave the car at the same power.

hope this helps

I hope you rung him back and told him that!

I have a 210 anyway and I love it. My friend had a 225 and there was no difference in performance or handling that I could tell. Both were evenly matched in every situation we tested them so that's that really.

Oh, his came with a CD player and mine with a tape player and CD auto changer so that wasn't really an issue. I have an iPOD unit in there now anyway.
