Yep, given that they stopped making the Mk1 Leon around 2005, chances are that you should be thinking about changing your cambelt and water pump (cambelt because it's a 60k mile or 4 year part, whichever comes first, and water pump because the one that came from the factory has a plastic part which can break but there's an uprated pump with metal). Best to get the pump done at the same time otherwise if it fails you will pretty much have to pay for the cambelt replacement again
I have been told that they have gone back to plastic regading the water pump as they have improved the design and if a metal one managed to break it could damage the engine were as if its the plastic it would just melt away but dont qoute me on that.

well its hit 40150 miles and not booked the service yet! did eventually find the manual and it says next service is due around 40650 miles. Im going to manc on sat (utd vs arsenal game) which will clock up some miles and will book in prob thurs or fri next week as im off.

My car had it's 40k at 20k because the mileage was so low even after 4yrs. It's due cambelt now as 5yrs have been and gone and I still have another 30k until it reaches cambelt mileage. I am thinking about doing another 40k now, 10k-on, would it be worth it or just do another oil change and filter (the last one was 5 or 6k ago)?

The difference between 4yr services and the others is really just air filter and spark plugs, but I wouldn't think the sparks need changing every year, Jam...
Thanks lordgibness, the plugs were done at 20k along with air filter, oil, oil filter, pollen filter etc and it also had new discs and pads at that time too. So in the service book, the 40k service is already marked as having been done, so i'm thinking perhaps just change the oil again and a new oil filter? The annoying thing with the low mileage is that the service countdown in the car is all out of sync, it's doing it's 2k countdown now. I won't be changing the air filter this time as there's a Neuspeed on there which is still as clean as it was the day it went on.
I am trying to work out whether it's worth doing the pollen filter again or not? It'll be getting done at my dad's garage so I'll get him to check the condition of the plugs while he is at it. I assume 50k is an oil change too and of course 60k is your cambelt but i'm having that done in October. I had a flick through the owners manual this morning and I couldn't find a list of what gets done at what mileage 
Pollen filters are pretty cheaps so you could argue it's worth getting them changed every service, but I think they're usually changed every two years. I went for the Jetex pollen filter, however, as they have a carbon layer which filters pollution as well as dust.
Oil and oil filter should be changed at each service, and cambelt at 4yrs old. I haven't got it with me atm, but it's all in the service schedule booklet.
