My cupra went into seat on Monday evening as i wasn't happy with a few things. One the gearbox banging, which i mentioned before....its got to a point that wen u go into the first gear, ur grinding with the clutch pressed fully down. I also found a coolant leak, i thought it was over flowing but i asked them to check it out for me.

Comes to that they ahve called me an hour ago, saying we have ordered a new radiator for you, will be here tomorrow morning, and the gearbox may have to be replaced or the clutch or they have to strip it down and do some work........... i cant believe it! whoever had it before me has given it no tlc or drove it with style.....

I have to take the car home tonight as needing it tomorrow but it means its gotta go back to them for these 2 things doing and im going to have no car for 3-4days :cry:

Only this can happen to me - Im not happy at all. Thankgod its all under warrnaty at the moment and seat are being extremely helpful in huddersfield but its not the point!! what next!?! :([:@]

At least you know it will be fixed, and you'll have a new gearbox/clutch to play with :)

Chin up!

Needs to be at home fixed! But what person can do that to a car, he or she must av been redlining everywhere and not changing gears proeprly or riding the clutch!

As above, at least it is getting sorted :) We've had a few cars come in that people have just got and found out they are pretty much beyond repair. Its aweful having to brake bad news like that. Sorry to hear about the problems though, hope it all gets sorted for you.

mate pretty much all cars get caned silly when they come off the ship anyway. just be thankful you are getting it all done under warranty. thenyou can trweat it well.

Although my nan had a new gearbox on her corsa when she got it. An my nan think a car redlines at 1200 rpm so they can break even if driven slowly, so don't assume the worst

they advised that if they give me a courtesy car, there is a £1000 excess i have to pay i have an accident. As we own another car, original mini, decided to use that for the time being. It isnt a problem not having it as we got another car, but the fact i don't have my ibiza is crucifing me

Sorry that i havent replied sooner, few probs. Now then, went to seat on wednesday to pick car up. It goes back in tonight for collection on wednesday. New clutch, fly wheel and radiator. the technician believes that is wat the problem is so he stuck his neck out for new parts for this. seat headquarters ed it was a different problem but their report wasnt matching what the dealership sent off so we'll see what happens after wednesday.

yeah, warranty don,t like paying out for clutches as they see them as consumable items like brake pads and exhausts

good luck getting it all paid for under warranty, also give the bodywork a good check over when you pick it up

Just an update!

Seat hudds have contacted me today to advise they have replaced the clutch and leaky radiator.

Unfortunately the banging on the gearbox is still there. They believed that it was sticking the previous gear when changing. They have advised me now that they are draining the gearbox oil and replacing it with some uprated stuff to see if this will cure the problem but they doubt it will.

So i will be collecting it tonight but it has to go back to them for more research and repairs. I am so gutted, and this is on a 3 year old car [:@]

Could this possibly lead to a new gearbox being fitted?

I just wish it was sorted. Ive hardly had the car for 2 weeks now.....not compalining about Seat's response to it, they have been amazing but its just the fact that i've only had it 6 weeks and havent really had a decent play in it yet.
