has anyone else actually done this to there lights, am in the process of looking into it now but wondered if anyone had anymore info before i started buying leds and ripping my lights appart!

Chavvy, no chance, audi is not chavvy...

i really like these, have been looking at led rear lights that are circular unfortunately as theyre the only ones on the market, but they do look a little chavvy,

come on guys, someone with some connections get these in to production pleaseeee

Chavvy? lol who said that. No way are these chavvy, more like classy. Anything replicating something of an Audi A6 shouldnt even be mentioned in the same line as chavvy. I reckon it looks awesome. Standard OEM lights are nice and there arent really any decent aftermarket lights out there for the Leons but these are suppperrr! If anyone manages to get them into production then hats off to them cz they will make that someone bag loads of money!

Sorry I've not posted in this thread for a while!

I could very easily do the PCBs for these lights at work but the main problem is going to be cost... We are usually charged around £150 for a bare PCB panel in low volume from our supplier and looking at these you would only get about 3 of each board on a panel (i.e. enough to do 3 tail lights). Then you need to buy all the LEDs and solder them, then fit them in the lights and sort the wiring so that you have brake/tail lights on the boot lid light.

Of course if the quantity was high (100+) you might be able to get the price down a bit.

Was thinking about these the other day actually. Can't imagine it would be too hard just take a while. Guy I worked with did something simialr for his old MX5 and he did say it took him hours to do. But they looked awesome and he had many offer of over £300 for them..

Rather than trying to get a proper PCB manufactured you could just buy one of those home DIY boards. It won't look as tidy but the finished light should look the same and it would be fine for a one off.

Perhaps you could do it with something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Prototype-PCB...al_Components_Supplies_ET?hash=item3354de99ac

I know what people mean by saying chavvy.

Ever noticed people emulating from Audi already. With all the white LED light strips. People sticking them in a line round the housings of their front headlights. On the front of an R8/S5 it's not chavvy. But a cheap knockoff, stuck to a civic or a passat IS chavvy. As the inherent danger of tackling any mod is you'll end up looking like those burks. I guess the same goes for a lot of BMW angel eye conversions (I've seen some nice leon ones though!)

The original pictures look very cool, and nicely done. My ownly criticism would be:
On an audi the LEDs follow the shape of the light, on the leon they dont. As they are more of a square shape, not a rectangle, so it doesn't match the light cluster itself.

Might try and get hold of an old cluster of some sort over Christmas and see if it can be done with a project board :-D

Yes PCB would be MUCH better but then you are looking at proper money probably.

One thing though.. what would the legality be on something like this?

it follows the shape. But Antnee has it. It's only half the cluster. It doesn't quite look right...Where of course on the audi, the whole cluster is that shape.

Somehow though, I not sure it would look as good if it traced the original outline.

Yes that was my other concern, don't know how legal they would be. Obviously LED lights are legal and the light clusters themselves are, but once you crack open a set and stick some LEDs in the E mark is kind of void I guess... Maybe no one would notice if done properly though... "Yes officer, the lights are fully E-marked, see..."

 I said the same when I was joking with someone at work about this.

Unfortunately police officers are not stupid. Also there would be difficult questions should someone hit in the back of you and then claim they couldn't see your brake lights...
