Air con removal

Has anyone done this before . If so what is required i never use it just saps power and adds weight so want shot of it .

Can anyone enlighten me about any difficulties I'll come across

I was gona post about this. I have no clue either. I think when u remove it then u have to find a bigger belt to replace it? Correct me if im wrong peeps

i'm due to have my aircon removed in a couple of weeks when i get my FMIC fitted

i'll find out easy it is and get some info on how to do it from the place in question

i would maybe be interested in this also, as the clutch is away in mine, i wouldnt use it anyway and it would cost too much to repair

Did anyone get round to doing this??? if so what was needed????
My copresor has not worked for over 3 years.

It is just a weight bolted on the car.

Had a garrage look at it, they said the system has had the the Air Con version of rad weld put in the system
which has bloocked all the plugs/joints so the whole system would need to be replaced.

this is not worth doing the car is v reg 99 so they were quoting over £650 to sort the system out. Just had windows open over the summer.
would like to get it taken off any tips much appricated.

I believe you need a mk4 golf drive belt due to some off there 1.8 not running air con,mite be wrong but that's what I was told
