Hello,
I know theres a lot about air filters here but cant find what Im looking for. I've got 1.4 06 DAB with the engine cover. I need to replace the air filter and thought I may as well upgrade it. Can someone explain, for a total newbie what to do. I have removed the engine cover but it is still attatched by a thick cable? Whats this for? And how do you remove th engine cover complelty if its still attatched?
This then leaves the large air intake pipe at the rear right of the engine, and a smaller intake at the front of the engine. Which one would the filter go on and what happens to the other intake? Thats about it really.
hopefully this wont turn into a six hundred page thread.

Cheers

you can just get a green cotton panel filter that will just fit in the same place your original air filter is, it should be located at the top right of the engine bay in a black box with two screws, take these out and unclip the lid and just pop the new one in then fasten it all up again mate.

Which size panel filter is needed for the DAB? I wanted to get one myself, I'm just not too sure which one's right!

well its built in to the plastic cover so have to unscrew it all to find the size the get a panel filter and to add a induction kit you use the intake at the back of the engine known as a throttle body am goin to take my air filter apart tomorrow to find size of filter cuz i want a deaper one

cheers for replies folks, still wondering what the wire connecting the engine cover/air filter and the engine is?? if i were to get rid of the cover permanently to fit induction kit then what happens to wire? cheers

Part No. for green cotton filter

QuietQuackers the part number for the replacement green cotton panel filter is P504342. You can buy it from www.green-filter.co.uk, approx £43. I have one in my 1.4 DAB, great investment much better than the standard paper filter that SEAT use.

I dont know, do I? Its the only thing connecting engine cover to engine. It seems more like a cable than a pipe.

yeah it is the breather hose if u got an induction kit you would have to put a small filter at the other end of that pipe aswell as the induction filter, puttin the pd160 on would not be advisable! as the air intake is in a different place...

:think:Hmm... Sounds like it's time for someone that works in a VAG parts department, to check whether the 1.4TSI:thumbup: models induction kit would be a good alternative upgrade. Of course if we strike out with that. Take a look at the 1.4 100hp or the Greek version that made 115hp, if I recall correctly albeit with chip & exhaust as well!!!:seatgod:
