No,it's supposed to be like that;)
They're only heated when you switch on the rear window heater button.
Argh!!

If your mirror adjustment knob symbols look like this...

...you have heated mirrors AND the heater switch is in the knob. The heater is on in the middle position. Trust ME on this, I live in a country where we have a real winter, so I do get to see frost and snow melt on the mirrors. And the heaters have a "heat fuse" (or what do you call it) that stops the heating once they've gotten too warm. So don't worry, no damage, just excessive wear of heater resistors. ;)

If the symbols are L, 0 and R, you either don't have heated mirrors or the heater switch is combined to the rear window heater button (which I haven't seen in MkIV Ibizas).

End of discussion!! [:@] ;)

What do dealers know? I for example taught my salesman how the tire valve caps work.

We have a long and cold winter here and our family has two VWs and one SEAT, all with heated mirrors but with the two different implementations. So I know what I'm talking about.

I have no idea what SEAT are doing with their specifications. According to the UK website the Ibiza FR now comes with "Heated, Electrically adjustable and folding door mirrors." So does that mean the mirrors are now electrically folding, or electrically adjustable and manually folding as they have always been? If they are electrically folding I assume they should have another symbol marked on the switch like the Leon. I can't remember what the symbol is though.

Probably not. I know a mobile phone company that advertised one of their phones having "stereo radio and music player" and the music player was actually only mono.

I have the electric folding mirrors as an option.
Don't know exactly which symbol it is on the button:think:
I do know that you have to turn the button the 180° to fold them

you remove the ring around the middle vents with some kind of thin implement and pop it out then push the vent into the dash till its sort of floating then the tricky but pull it out from the air hose from behind and then turn it around so its facing the wrong way then pull it out and the flaps on the side will compress and allow it to slide out, that is the way i did it!
