Any perfect Formentors out there?

I'm coming from an Evoque Autobiography and wondered about the change, thanks for sharing. I've had no real issues apart from very squeaky brakes!
The one thing I know I will miss is the memory passenger seat but I guess I'll learn to live with it.
On the subject of missing things I think I'm going to get annoyed with lane assist defaulting to on every start up. In the Evoque it can simply be turned off. Not sure how easy it is to turn stop/start off as well. I imagine theres no physical button for this either.
Hi Andy,

IF you check the details on this forum re OBDEleven you can permanently turn off lane assist. :)

As per the title, how many Formentor owners out there are completely happy with a fault free car?
I do realise that the majority of people only seek out a forum when they have an issue so the ratio of bad cars may well be disproportionate on this forum, but there do seem to be a fair few issues.
I’m starting to wonder if I should reconsider purchasing a new Formentor.
Had my V2 1.5 DSG about 5 weeks now, no issues, everything working perfectly. Looks and drives great. Love it.

Thank you for this series of postings.
I hope to get something to replace our current BMW which I do not enjoy. The VZ2 is top of the list but some of the comments on this forum and Google in general have planted serious doubts in my mind. It almost feels like a ££££ gamble and I have never gambled ! Everything about the car suits my needs but ...infotainment issues !!!
I intend to purchase something within the next couple of months and if it is the VZ2 it will be one less than a year old so should have all the updates.
Only real alternatives are also VAG cars, the Audi sq2 or VW T-roc R. Infotainment similar but not quite as comprehensive but lacking in other areas. Other cars discarded included Jaguar E-Pace, Volvo XC 40 T5, Alfa Stelvio etc.
It is reassuring to read of other positive experiences so I just have to hit on the right car. Wish me Luck.
Cheers

HI there mate,

By and large it's a problem-free car. It's important to remember that those who have issues are the loudest! :)

I have a VZ3 equivalent and know two others with Formentors, with with a 245hp hybrid, and another with a VZ3-ish spec (we don't have the UK's spec levels so I'm approximating).

ALL of us had the infotainment issues, but once they were sorted, it's been problem free except for the hybrid which suffered from a broken charge port, replaced within 3 days of him notifying the dealer.

I love driving mine - it's a highlight when I get in.

I do wish I could just have the exhaust flaps opened permanently in my custom profile! :)

Mine is in for a service right this moment, and they were very good in replacing the engine cover for me without my input (it's a small recall item) and they will update the software also.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have queries. I don't regret my purchase/lease at all.

Just make sure you get the infotainment update if it doesn't have one already (like if it came from dealer stock)
Just out of interest which version of software are you now on? I take delivery of a V2 next week and the dealer has advised that the software is on 1890 and this is the latest version available to this car.

Or toggle it to last which means if you turn it off, it stays off between ignition rather than turning itself back on, on each restart. That's a silent one that a dealer wouldn't notice on a test drive. You'd click it back to on, normal controls so it worked normally.

1896 is the latest version, not 1890, so they fibbed :)
This was their response to me - makes me nervous haha, don't want to have to take it straight back to a dealer to have an update;
The software version 1896 is only available to certain part numbers of media units, Some run a different version.
I’ve been out and checked and the SW version in the vehicle is at 1890 and this is the latest available for this vehicle.

Yes I have had a look at the obd11 thread. Quite confusing reading for a novice fiddler!
Once I have the car I'll work out exactly what equipment I need and get it done :D

Had my VZ2 for 15 months now and its brilliant. Had some minor software issues, NOT the ACC problem, but these were fixed with an update at dealers. I think it matters which dealer you go to as some have no idea. My local dealer (Horders Congresbury) have been great. Mechanically perfect. All new cars have so much tech and built in computers that they need updates, just like computers and most modern day appliances. Most household appliances are now connected to the Internet and have updates sent to them. Its life.

I just got mine back today after service and software update - now on 1896, and it's MILES better on first impression. So much faster for a start.

I'll see how it goes, but talking to the service manager he said that across the VAG range the update is being met very positively.

By the looks of it all cars that currently run the new screen hardware H58 (changed around mid January) the latest is 1890. All the cars that were built before mid January run the older screen hardware H56 are being updated OTA or dealer software update to 1896. I've had my car 3 months now and still on 1890 and have haven't had the major 1896 OTA update. They must have to adapt the code to run on the new hardware- not too fussed as I haven't had any problems with the infotainment screen

Also received a similar message from my dealership. Due to take delivery of the car in a week or two and I'd asked them to ensure it's on 1896 before delivery, and they said it's in 1890 and that's the latest version for the vehicle. Thought they were misleading me at first, but then found this reply. Very useful - thanks.

Had my V2 in desire red delivered today and so far it’s perfect (after 30 miles 🤣). Really impressed with it so far, plenty of kit (all working - touch wood) and looks great. Very pleased!

Thought it was worth commenting on this again.

My car is updated to 1896 and everything runs perfectly. Like any car there are a few quirks but set the car up properly and it does work how you want it.

The haters will continue to hate!

I have to agree. My hybrid had all the issues corrected with 1896. The app is intermittent but works as I need it 90% of the time, should be better tbh. However the car is great & I love it👍.

Lovely  but then I might be a bit biased:

But yet another "it's perfect, but...". Very few people are saying they hate it, they are saying after spending between 30 and 40 grand on a car, they expect better. Of the last three cars I've had (C class, A4, A3 Saloon), two have been literally perfect. Absolutely nothing to complain about, no quirks etc. The only reason I don't include the third is because it had a minor issue about a month in, fixed under warranty. Yet I've had more "annoyances" with the Formentor in the first few weeks of owning than all those put together.
Do I hate it? Absolutely not!! Should it be better? Most definitely.
